Post by Dio »

Hello!! I'm new and trying to learn more about identifying colour in horses using the guides posted but for whatever reason, this guy has me stumped? Any help is appreciated.

He's a bay dun varnish roan with snowflakes. I've included the breakdown below to help you for your future color identification:

1. The body color is a shade of brown, with black points and a darker mane and tail --> shows he is bay.
2. The color is lightened on the body and you can see primitive markings such as the dorsal stripe and zebra markings on the legs --> shows he is dun
3. Shows appaloosa pattern (snowflakes) and lightening of the mane and tail shows the appaloosa gene roaning (called varnish roan) --> ...shows he is varnish roan with snowflakes. ;)

Hopefully that helps!
