╚Ӂ╝ Invicto Acres aims to create a unique line of Pura Raza Española horses, commonly known as Andalusians, that both adheres to conformation requirements of the breed and has a competitive edge in the show ring. ╚Ӂ╝
INVICTO ACRES BREED STANDARD
All horses bred by Invicto Acres are graded against the Andalusian breed standard and given scores based on how close their conformation matches the standard.


ANDALUSIAN STANDARD
    Head & Neck Conformation                                                          
  • Face Profile is slightly convex or straight.
  • Face Length is moderate.
  • Jowl is slightly thick to moderate.
  • Neck Length is slightly short to moderate.
    Shoulder & Barrel Conformation                                                 
  • Wither-Shoulder Angle is extremely sloped.
  • Point of Shoulder is extremely high.
  • Rib Cage is slightly deep to moderate.
  • Depth of Flank is slightly shallow to moderate.
    Back, Haunches, & Legs Conformation                                      
  • Hip Angle is slightly sloped to moderate.
  • Hip Length is as long as possible.*
  • Leg Thickness is slightly thick to moderate.
  • Stifle Placement is slightly back to moderate.
  • Back Length is short to extremely short.
  • Croup Height is slightly high to moderate.

* PRE standard calls for the shoulder, barrel, and haunches to equal 1/3 of the body length each.
Therefore, hip length varies based on body size.


INVICTO ACRES ANDALUSIAN ROADMAP

My goal is to set my Andalusians up to be close to the PRE standard from conception.  To achieve this, I plan on breeding foundation stock that have conformation close to what I desire before actually working up the Andalusian breeding tree.


Andalusian → [ Sorraia × Carthusian ] × [ Sorraia × West African Barb ]

Carthusian → West African Barb × Sorraia

Mongolian → [ Przewalski Horse × Tarpan ] × Tarpan

Sorraia → [ Tarpan × Mongolian ] × [ Tarpan × West African Barb ]

West African Barb →  [ North African Barb × Arabian ] × [ North African Barb × Forest Horse ]


Breeding Plan

  1.  Breed at least 12 Tarpans with an overall score of at least 80%.
  2.  Find or breed Przewalski Horses with overall score of at least 40%.
  3.  Create Mongolians; aim for overall score that's at least 60%.
  4.  Breed at least 6 Mongolian × Tarpan cross has overall score of at least 80%.
  5.  Start work on making WAB with an overall score that's at least 80%.
  6. Create Andalusian!
