Grade horses?

Post by BridlePath »

Hey guys I'm trying to learn more about the Grade horses of the game.
Do they help increase other breeds stats?
Does their pedigree influence their future foals?

I have a grade colt with 3 gold stats whose from a mongolian X turkmene mare and a thoroughbred X arabian stallion. I've been trying to make Trakehners, so could he help with that project?

I know he will make a good show horse. I just dont know if I should keep him or if there's a market for grade horses, maybe sell him.

Here he is: http://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/1147387

Any advice any info is appreciated!

Their usefulness is an 'eye of the beholder' scenario. Many of my horses are grades or mixes because I breed specifically for competition and since all I care about is score, the breed of the horse is unimportant.

I believe grades can help with the creation of purebreds as long as the grade evaluates for that specific breed and is crossed with a horse of the breed you're trying to get. There are others who would be more knowledgeable about that facet than I however.

First things first, I wanted to compliment you on the beautiful colt! He's gorgeous!

Now, for your actual question: I know I like to use grades for getting the conformation I want in my lines. I like to research the structure of the horses I want to breed then try to get as close as I can to the real world (though I may tweak it slightly for preference). While it'll take a few generations to get back to purebred, grade horses help get preferential genes into the pool while keep the COI down (if you're careful about your crosses).
