Re: Just popped this foal...
Just popping in as I sometimes do with a color correction:BlackOak2 wrote:I don't know if I can agree with the pearl, but I also can't disagree.NekoNAB wrote:... holy horseshoes she's lightly colored! Any ideas?
My first reaction was "She's so white! wait that can't be possible.."I'm guessing she'll darken over time and end up looking like her sire.

Very nice outcome though!
And those socks are coming along really nicely.Very good height!
The horse in question is Brown Cream - brown + 2x cream. She's the same color as her father, minus his roan. Her mother is a buckskin. Both parents passed on a single cream resulting in the double cream baby.
Now that she's older, you can tell she has a brown base rather than a black one because of the light areas on her muzzle and stomach.
If you're curious, Morningstar is Amber Cream (bay + champagne + 1x cream) and Marshmallow Destiny is Amber Champagne with a hidden pearl (bay + champagne + 1x pearl). Marshmallow's mother is what an actual Smoky Brown Pearl (brown + cream/pearl combo) looks like (in comparison to the horse originally questioned). Though of course she also has roan. However you have her listed as an ivory champagne when she in fact does not have the champagne gene. If she did she would have freckles on her muzzle, which you can see quite clearly on English Philosopher. Anyway, as Marshmallow's mother has both a cream and a pearl, and Marshmallow does not show cream, we know that Marshmallow has a hidden pearl. (I went digging because I was curious and Marshmallow's mother got her pearl from her mother, who was a Brown Pearl.)
And as a final note, in case you didn't know, Dashing Apple Pie is a very sooty Perlino (bay + 2x cream + intense sooty).

Surprisingly, this line is already showing promise in Hunting. Color me impressed. In local shows, some of the foals can reliably get 1st place in the 4th level. Though for giggles, I do believe saddleseat or even jumping would be far more amusing. (sorry if this is hard to understand, as I've just drank some wine and notice my typing isn't quite rightBlackOak2 wrote:...

Oh wow, thank you very much for your input! I appreciate it, sincerely.Silverine wrote:...

Marshmellow's mother is actually a mare I bought from market and had her color listed as such, so I never thought to double check if it was correct. I am incredibly flattered (I do so hope that is the correct word) that you would take time out of your day to look at my project. Thank you again, and I hope Mojo's pregnancy is progressing well!

Anyway, hunter, untrained with AC-style HGP... I suppose that's not too bad. I've seen better... I've also seen quite a bit worse.

And your typing is fine.

You're welcome! I enjoy digging to figure things out, so it's not a big deal.NekoNAB wrote:

Eventually I may take some of the prettier ones, and cross them to my belgians for experimental outcomes. So many possibilities!BlackOak2 wrote: ...

I do find that light breeds mixed with belgians tend to be decent competitors, at least as can be expected. I don't think I crossed NAB's with belgians though, it would certainly be interesting.NekoNAB wrote: Eventually I may take some of the prettier ones, and cross them to my belgians for experimental outcomes.
