Just popped this foal...

Post by NekoNAB »

... holy horseshoes she's lightly colored! Any ideas?
My first reaction was "She's so white! wait that can't be possible.." I'm guessing she'll darken over time and end up looking like her sire.

Thank you! I've noticed the sire producing similar foals with other mares. It is quite a beautiful color.

I don't know if I can agree with the pearl, but I also can't disagree.

Very nice outcome though!
And those socks are coming along really nicely. :D Very good height!

Thank you! :D It's taken some revolving stock to find the right genetics, but I'm getting there!

I am thinking, that the super high leg in the back, might also be coloring the side, not just restricted to the leg. But without being able to turn the horse around, have to wait to see if or when you can get that on the one facing us.

It is very possible! I've had quite a few foals from this particular sire that show similar patterns.
As of late, these two are the best foals I have managed to produce. I am eager to see how their color darkens as they age.

Oh! Lookie that! A stocking that stops just short of the body!!!
Well :D That means it's possible to have white legs and colored body. Great look for the tall-leg syndrome. Probably look like the mares though, that'd be my guess.

I expect them to, but I have been surprised before
As I said, I'm making progress! It's taken some time, and countless cullings, but I do believe I will get the ideal leg stockings we've discussed all those months(has it been longer? a year perhaps?) ago.
Then... then I may sit on them for a bit as I think up a new project for these beauties.

Ah! How long ago... Who knows.

The project was specifically for ... essentially, daddy-long-legs. After getting the look and proving it's possible, you could turn them into a competition line. Say saddleseat or jumping.... ehem... STEPPING over the jumps, anyway! They might work best for something like endurance. Keep the slim body form to heighten the leggy look.
