That's discoloring of almost all flopped over black manes. It's part of the image I believe.

Ok, I think I've found some plume on my farm; it's in the 'AC' barn (now used for my low HGP project)

.... Not sure. The foal pictures look typical of a bay. They seem to darken so without any in-between photos can't tell.

But plume's have a discolored whitish line right against the neck.
