Breeding question

Post by careless »

I am trying to breed a Norman cob and Drifting Kiss

has the correcting breeding for it however is a "half Belgian" if I were to cross her to another half Belgian of the same breeding would there be a chance of a Norman cob foal

I never had any luck with breeding halves.

If it reads Half X or Part X or Mixed X, you can use it as a purebred.

No, because she is a half Belgian not [ Tarpan x Belgian ] x [ Forest Horse x Belgian ]. You'd have to treat her as Belgian and cross her back to a Tarpan or Forest Horse if you wanted to use her

i ask because that is her breeding, she comes up as half Belgian but those are the breeds in her pedigree

That is her breed makeup, but the name is what matters in this context. You have to treat a Half Belgian as a Belgian no matter what her breed makeup. You will not have even a remote chance of getting a Norman Cob if you breed her to another horse with the same breeding.
Signature? I don't need no stinkin' signature! Everybody knows who I am already!

Then you'd have a Part Norman Cob x Belgian, the Half Belgian is a Half Belgian, not a Norman Cob
