Well in real life it doesn't cause too many issues, except when of course there is a hidden undesirable gene that is then quickly spread throughout the population. I understood that some inbreeding was ok in the game but eventually there might be some penalties for heavily inbred ones?

Might it be possible for us to get an idea of how heavily inbred a horse will have to be to cause problems? I'm starting a new breeding plan and I don't know how low I should aim to keep my horses. I'm a little paranoid that whenever this is added, all of my horses will become useless overnight or something. I mean, obviously I shouldn't do 95% COI again. I just don't know how low is low enough.

Inbreeding can cause fertility issues and general unthriftyness.

COI over 5% is linked to decreased performance IRL.

COI stands for Coefficient of Inbreeding. Essentially, it measures the common ancestors of dam and sire, and indicates the probability of how genetically similar they are.

You can see it if you check the pedigree tab. It's written o each horse's card

The only way I know to find it is to go to your horse's pedigree and their is something that say 7-gen COI with a percentage next to it. The percentage is the inbreeding percentage. Hope this helps.
