Figuring out the Appy patterns (updated)

Oh another ripper! I think any of those ones that have the snowcap/few spot looking patches at birth are homozygous Lp? Seems to hold true from my breeding anyway

Same here, my "snowcaps" seem to be homozygous for Lp.

Just out of curiosity, what exactly are you guys defining as snowcaps? I have the general idea, but I'd be interested to know specifically what you're looking at.

For me I consider snowcaps as looking like a horse just got snow dumped on its hindquarters.

Any of those ones with the few spot looking patches at birth I consider snowcaps, no matter where the white is it is still homozygous Lp, it's just that the smaller patches of white have a less white patn. A full patn1 homozygous Lp would be the true few spot

Yup, ditto Kintara. Basically, a blanket with little to no spots in it. Usually, I've noticed, with a lacey/roany edge. Like "Dance" here.

Although you still might get solid looking foals at birth because they may not be homozygous for a patn
