I'm quite positive that Tarpan is one of the breeds with extreme Varnish, though.
I was beginning to wonder about that as well. I will add that theory to the main post. :)

I font think anyone has found the genes for big patterns yet, but there are some horses with what I call a "long shallow" blanket, the white reaches the withers almost but doesn't dip down very far onto the sided. Maybe try to cross with a horse with that pattern?

Well, I guess you have two options:
- earn more PT and try again and again
- wait until somebody else figures it out and puts their stallion up for stud

It didn't take long for greys to appear in the stud listings, so maybe you'll be lucky.

That's a good pattern! I mostly seem to get two part ones that nearly go up to the wither like the couple here (the stallions foals are mostly the same), or like the second two where the white pattern nearly goes down to the hocks. I can't seem to get any more white though, I don't even know if it's possible and I have to get the bigger white pattern from a foundation? Haven't got anything decent from Caspians or Barbs, but maybe I just haven't got the right horses!

I want to get Appaloosa Akhal Tekes so I've been crossing my existing stock to Tarpans, everyone's gotten a blanket so far.

I just bough an AC Turk mare, once I find an Arab with a longer face I'll breed those two, get a Teke then cross that on a Tarpan. Easiest way to figure out who's carrying what! (and to fix my current weaknesses)

Snowcap colt

I just now had this handsome little "Snowcap" colt born. Both his parents are LP, so its possible he is homozygous for the "master switch". I love his tiny spots at the edge of his blanket, makes a fancy lacy looking edge. I can't wait till he is breeding age!
