Oh drat. That was not supposed to post. I was trying to search "disappointment" in case it was a search term, and posted by mistake. Sorry again.

Anyway: I was just hoping to check in with an experienced breeder or two. I carefully selected the dam and bred her to the best stud I could find. However, the foal has come out with worse skills and GP than her parents. I am hoping that the genetic information from the sire and dam are still "in there" and that she can go on to be useful, but I admit that I am disappointed. I even put her up for sale and then bought her back (luckily I did not set a high price...)

Can anyone offer advice, or point me in a better direction?

Thanks,
Ocean Jasper

Unfortunately we don't always get the foal we would hope for but that doesn't mean to say that the same pair won't produce a better one. You may need quite a few breedings to get a foal better than the parents then again it could happen on the next breeding. give it a few more goes before you get too disheartened.

As to the buying back of your foal, if you click on the sell horse in your horses profile it will allow you to cancel the sale ad.

Thanks -- next time I will remember how to cancel a mistaken sale!

I will try the breeding again, as you suggest, and see if next time results are better.

I was just now trying to read Larissar's help guide on genetics and conformation, and I will have to read it several more times if I ever hope to understand it. It really does make me want to go Premium and see conformation in action; that might help...

Thanks for your encouragement. I'll keep trying.

Turns out I have one more question: You can acquire Pony Tokens by paying actual money for them. Is there possibly any way to turn them to money in the game? I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but just had to ask.

Having just decided to try my breeding match again, I find I'm a long way off being able to afford the stud fee -- and that's an awful lot of local shows...

I think I should probably put the game down and step away slowly for a few minutes at least. Apparently I've been playing for several hours now and I am losing perspective.

I'm happy to pay the stud fee for you. if you want to put a horse up for sale I'll buy it for 7,000 and sell it back for 1.

Hi Ricardo Ardo,

I'm not sure I understand... That would be so enormously kind of you that I can't really believe it. I would really only need $4,000.00 -- could we make it a loan?

I'm also afraid that I would need to put one of my lower-value horses into the sales, just in case a higher-value horse got snapped up. Would that be okay? Are you really up for doing this?

Hi again,

I'm going to have to log off for a while (apparently there is an outside world out there) but will check back later in case you've replied.

Whether or not we make arrangement for a loan, you are a very generous person and have helped me get some heart back into my breeding efforts.

Thank you,
Ocean Jasper

Sorry got called away. put any horse up for private sale. On the sale page enter 0 selling price and tick the box that says accept offers, that way nobody else can buy it unless you accept their offer.

I understand what you mean about private sale; that way no one else can actually buy the horse.

I am very grateful for this loan (because I do mean to pay you back when I can) -- plus I only need $3,000.00 now. I think my performance mares earned the difference (though it's frustrating not to be able to look at financial history and know for sure).

I will put a horse up now.
