Feeding Question
I want to ask all the professional trainers out there, what do you feed your horses to keep their energy level at 100% while you are training them? I'm training my first horse and he always runs out of energy
Any tips? Thanks!

Adjusting weight can come after the majority of training is done

Re: Feeding Question
I don't mow my pastures, so I just use a small one for training purposes and I usually don't have any more than two in it at any one timebunnylover88 wrote:Okay thank you! So do I train on 100% weight gain with a full pasture? what percentage of grass?Baranduin Brewster wrote:

Re: Feeding Question
I'm not sure if I've read you question correctly but if I have your horse will always run out of energy. Correct feeding will only determine that he starts a new day with 100% energy and any training that he does in that day will deplete his energy.bunnylover88 wrote:I want to ask all the professional trainers out there, what do you feed your horses to keep their energy level at 100% while you are training them? What you should be aiming for is using 100% of his energy in training. for example a completely untrained horse will use 59% energy with lunge on the flat with a ten minute walk in the arena, and a five minute walk uses 30%. that's 89% out of the 100% available.
If however you spend the 5 minutes on the trail at a canter that would use 41% which combined with the ten minute walk in the arena at 59% uses your full 100% for the day plus it will increase his stats.
Do the energy saver courses first to see an immediate reward of increased energy.
