how do you use books?

Using books is done in the horse profile. If you look at the tabs...
Info ---- Local Shows ---- Pedigree ---- Progeny ---- Gallery ---- Eval ---- Conformation

The one you want is Eval.
Your books will show up in this tab. The Eval (Evaluation) helps to determine how much that horse fits with the breed standard. Any horse can be evaluated by any book that you own.
