Dark coloured filly from light coloured parents

I recently bred my buckskin stallion with a few snow flakes with a silver bay mare that has an appy blanket and they both have fairly light colored parents themselves (i looked 3 gens back) and they were very light colored but the foal that the mare dropped is very dark in color (possibly some sort of grullo but not certain)
