I am sort of running low on money at the moment so does anyone have any ideas on how to make some money so that my balance isn't $0?

Also what are some popular competitions that you would like me to run. I can go up to level 7 competitions.

For the money thing, I would suggest running your horse in local shows. It gets you pony tokens, extra days and money. You can do roughly 5 a day. Every competition is popular, and the good ones would be hunter, dressage, show jumping and reining. Those are based off of what I see in the game, so they might be wrong. Hope it helps!
