Lending out mares?

Post by FrostyViolet »

I'm not sure where to post this, but is anyone interested in "lending" a mare for a foal?
I have a mare that I don't plan to show or breed anymore, but she's still able to have foals. This will probably be the case with a lot of my mares in the future, so if anyone wants to lend a Belgian mare for a foal, I have one! How it would work: I would simply breed my mare to your stallion of choice and sell you the foal afterwards.

Mare in question:
Table d’hôte

I would love a black filly out of http://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/543878, but that could take a couple of tries. I would be willing to pay a fee for the foaling of any colts/chestnuts etc. but I wouldn't buy them. So I guess it's up to you ;)

Sure! She had two black foals already, so I think this shouldn't take too many tries. (Also, my horses tend to have fillies more often than colts.. :P)
Would you be okay with paying 1000 (on top of the stud fee) for the foal and 500 (on top of the stud fee) for any failed attempts? If this takes more than two tries, though, I'm willing to drop the price for colts/chestnuts etc. to 250 :)

I'm not sure how high to price this, but since a foal takes about a year of a mare's lifetime, maybe somewhere around 1000 (on top of the stud fee)? It depends on the mare, of course.

Alright, then I'll breed her to your stallion now! I'll ping you once the foal arrives.

It's a colt with the wrong color, unfortunately, so I'll try re-breeding her now. I'm rehoming the colt and noting him down.

Had a bit of more luck this time! It's a filly, but still the wrong color. I'm rehoming her and re-breeding Table d'hote.
