Mane, Tail, & Feathers
I've noticed in my horses, so far anyway, that they're mane and tail seems to reach its maximum length by age two. Thus far I haven't had a horse with feathers.
Anyway, I'm trying to breed for longer tails in my horses and have bred my first two horses that seem to not be getting a long mane/tail. My colt just turned two and doesn't have one and I have a filly that is almost two and I don't think she's going to get there either.
My question is, am I correct in my prior observances? If they don't have a long mane/tail by the age of two, are they not going to get one at all? How long does it take the mane/tail to get to its maximum length? I just hate to sell if there's a chance the tails on both will get longer.
And just for future reference, if I ever decide to go the direction of horses with feather, how long does it take for full feathering to show up?

Re: Mane, Tail, & Feathers
In my experience the mane and tail reaches full length after the age of 4, and the feather will show by age 4, but might not be at full fluffiness. I would suggest waiting for them to turn 4 before deciding.

Re: Mane, Tail, & Feathers
There are genetics that determine how fast a horse's mane, tail and feather grow. Some horses don't get fully grown manes, tails and feather until 5+ years old. Getting full grown mane/tail/feather at the age of 2 is actually very early in comparison to the average horse in the game.
