The "perfect" training method?

Post by Flyer-owl »

HI!
I have seen some 4-5 year old horses in this game that are pretty much on 99% on all their abilities that can be trained.
Even if I train mine every time until he/she has no energy (without being over 33% tired out) I can't seem to get it right so that they are ready at that age.

Are there any tips/types of training I should do more of?

Thank you in beforehand! :)

I have never completed such a task but I do train and I know the amount of hours in a day changes for some. Being premium etc gives you extra days or time I believe..or its an upgrade you can get.
Don't think that is the only reason but I know it helps! Plus building up stamina first used to help a ton, but don't think it is AS important as before since the update...

Quoted you in here Kayaine cause I know your training method is probably as close to perfect as it gets.

I will say though that the biggest key component to training quickly and efficiently is to study the training bonus courses. The time bonuses that are available for purchase are helpful but really only for how many horses you can train at once rather than how quickly you can train them.

Still does! I would definitely recommend everyone start by maximizing stamina. :)

I will add in my two cents, since Laina pinged me. I can train a horse fully in exactly 2 years and 4.5 months. Now, I also have a lot of player courses done, so that helps by a lot. If you don't have many player courses done yet, I recommend that your start first with the energy saver courses. Completing all of those will save you somewhere around 2 years on your training I think. I'm just estimating by what I've seen when my bf trains his horses. After the energy saver is done, go through all of the stamina courses as quickly as you can. After that, do all the fast courses of whatever else you plan to train in, then do the slow ones.

When actually training, focus on stamina completely until you have maxed it out. It will take about 1 year or so if you've maxed energy saver and stamina courses. Then you can focus on everything else. AT that point, you should be able to quickly max all the other stats with minimal effort as long as you don't try to combine things. (I.e. You can do gallop on a long line for speed but don't try to do gallop and track while pulling a cart... You can do the combos for the last few tenths of a point, but it's easier to do things quickly if you focus on one aspect at a time.)

Hope this makes sense! I'll try to do a more in depth guide for everyone as soon as I finish buying my new house. Ping me if you have any questions!

Kayaine, that's an excellent exposition -- thank you. :D

 Explanations about player benefits -- Becoming a more effective trainer depends on these to a considerable extent.

Ways to improve your Player Character's ability to learn and work are found in the "Store".

* THe first subdivision is "Upgrade Benefits". It outlines Basic (free) membership, and Premium, which costs 500 Pony Tokens per month. (Some very active players have actually been able to earn enough PTs through entering Local Shows and leveling up the Player Character -- that generates PTs as well as HWO$. I'm far slower and therefore buy PTs for RW$.) Premium, as it shows, gives
12 Banked Days (Base) -- contrast with 6 at Basic
10 minute Day Regeneration Rate (Base) -- vs. 20 minutes in Basic
Add Logo to farm -- Basic doesn't have
Create auto recurring competitions -- Basic is one-shot show sponsoring. (Combine this with Courses in Show and Event Management and Coordination, and you can have 11 shows running every day, at any level. In fact the Level goes to 11!)
Access Conformation Effects panel on horse profiles -- FWIW
Access Private Messaging feature to contact other upgraded players -- can be very, very useful.
What they mean by "Base" is: this is what comes with that level of Membership, unless you upgrade it with a Player Bonus.

ANY player, BASIC or PREMIUM, can purchase benefits in the next subdivision, which is

* Player Bonuses. This flat-out costs RW money; you can't earn it through in-game activities. The great part is that you can select what you want and it's a one-time payment; it stays with your account *whether you are in Basic or Premium status*.

-- Experience Booster: gain experience 50% faster (Player Characters gain experience through training horses, entering Local Shows, advancing days, and studying). Your Player Character will level up sooner and more often, earning HWO $ and PTs and increasing the six Player abilities: Interlligence, Charisma, Patience, Dexterity, Determination, and Perception. $8.00 USD
-- Faster Day Regeneration: if you are at Basic, this brings the day regeneration down from 20 minutes to 10. If you have Premium, the 10-minute rate becomes 5. $2.00 USD
-- Faster Player Skill Learning: Reduces the time it takes to learn a player skill by 40%. Especially helpful once you get into those higher-level courses. It is the ONLY thing that accelerates taking courses, which run in RT (therefore unaffected by any other bonuses). Instead of 10+ days to learn 3rd level Training (when you're already at 20% and you're going up to 40% by 4% per course) you finish in 6+ days. If you're serious about Training, this is vital. $15.00 USD
-- Increase Max Saved Days: Doubles the maximum saved days you can have. So if you're at Basic, you have six days per game turn, and this makes it 12. At Premium, 12 becomes 24. $5.00 USD
-- Longer Days: Adds 2 hours to your player day so you can get more work done. The "normal" game day for either Basic or Premium is 16 hours, so this increases it to 18 hours. $8.00 USD
-- Time Saver: This bonus reduces the time used by 25%, so an hour of training your horse will only use up 45 mins. Works the same in Basic or Premium. Train 4 horses in the time it would take for 3. $12.00 USD

Combining Longer Days and Time Saver gives you, in effect, 24 hours per day: if you need more time to train, that can make your life a lot easier. Could also give more time to enter Local Shows, which always requires 3 hours of game time per show. If you play rapidly, adding Premium / Faster Day Regeneration would also help.

*The last subdivision is about buying PTs with RW $. They accept PayPal and credit cards.

The following activities DO NOT require/consume game time: :D reading board contents and posting messages; creating and entering competitions; studying courses (that eats RT instead!); arranging your farm and its furnishings; playing "Dress up your horses and do a photo shoot" (buy and apply tack and take an Image for the Gallery); examining and expanding your Inventory / farm; writing stud / sale ads and posting the animal in the Market; buying horses or anything else in the Market *except a stallion service*. The owner of the mare pays the fee, expends 20 minutes of the farm's time, and keeps the foal. The mare takes 20-26 half-months of game time to deliver. So far, pregnancy does not seem to affect the mare's ability to be trained or to compete.

Every time you click the Snoring Moon:
-- "advance" one Game day
-- your horses age 0.5 months, and so does your Farm
-- Player Character gains 18 experience points
-- grass grows: how much depends on how many horses are eating it, how big they are, and whether/what they get as a feeding supplement.
-- horses recover the energy and reduce the fatigue that training imposes
-- foals gestate, are born, and grow
-- horses gain or lose weight depending on how and what they eat. If we can just keep those little beauties *fed* properly, without getting *fed up* with the weird state of feeding protocols as they are now ... for those of us coping with tiny equines, that's quite a problem!

 You can and should start training foals the day they are born (or the day you buy them). Newborns to about 2 year olds regenerate rapidly; they learn fast and get rid of all of their fatigue between turns. The system doesn't let you abuse any horse by training beyond its energy. Fatigue, however, can build up and it will reduce the animal's ability to learn and compete. Always enter competitions at 6:00 a.m. farm time when your horses are "fresh".
