Conformation Tab Suggestion

Post by CarouselCowgirl »

I love the newly updated conformation tab! I've been thinking for a while though, it would be nice to have some way to evaluate the "bars" that are shown for each confo trait.

The idea I came up with was to have a numerical representation. Something like, the far left point of each bar represents "-10", the exact middle is "0", and the far right is "10". And wherever the horse falls on the bar it would be nice to be given the numerical value based on the scale, say "-7.1" or something. Now, this value and the scale would have NOTHING to do with the summary of conformation effects.

This would be really helpful in at least 2 ways. One, for breeders, I personally would love to be able to have a value, so that I could say I want my horses to fall between "-2 and 4" on the scale for Neck Length. Without any way to mark exactly where a horse falls it makes it really difficult to pick which horses have the best conformation for my goals, which is the case currently.
Two, in the same way as one this would be great for player-held conformation shows, like Revenant wants to do. Then for a breed show the conformation ideals could be easily set and scored.

Thanks for everything, larissar, and thank you for being kind enough to take suggestions! This game is fantastic.

Not giving out numbers for anything is Larissa's modus operandi. It makes things too much of a numbers game. It also really isn't difficult to memorize the ideal stat buffs or location of the green marker.

The numbers wouldn't mean anything though, other than give the player the exact location of the marker on the bar. It doesn't even have to be a number. Any kind of "dividers" would be useful! Even if the bar is just divided up by like 10ths(or somethingths) with lines.

As I stated above it would be really helpful for breeders, or for player created conformation contests.

When Larissa was asking about the bars before they were implemented, I suggested that they could be used for conformation shows in this way: when registries are implemented, the registry members would create a breed standard using two or more points on the bar. Horses in between the most narrow points would gain points toward elite stud book eligibility, the next most narrow gains points toward premium, the next to regular. Players would be able to view these points using their breed book. Larissa liked the idea and indicated she would be adding it to the to do list.

I can't say that it will be implemented exactly how it is described. I know that registries are sort of medium on the to do list. But there's a mostly planned use of the bars for something like you suggest. :)
Signature? I don't need no stinkin' signature! Everybody knows who I am already!
