Competition Tweaks
It would be nice if we could make a few more tweaks to competitions.
*It would make things a little easier if there was some way to see which classes a handler has entered for those that allow only one entry. Maybe have the enter horse button turn red or something so you know to just skip that on the next horse.
*It would also be nice if you could search for specific events and specific levels. I.e. Searching for barrel racing and pole bending from all levels 1-3.
*It would also be cool if the player name showed up on the results area. It could be small, it would just be nice to know who each horse belongs to without having to click through all of the results.
*Remove competitions that do not have entries within 2-3 days or so after the run date.
*Automatically run classes that have at least 2 horses in them if it is more than 2-3 days past run date.
*Put some kind of % cap on show fees, so that if you want to charge higher fees, you have to actually add to the pot. So that a player can't charge $5000 for a show that has a $500 prize.
*Be able to see a horse's current entries. (Argent)
*When entering In-Hand competitions, only show horses that meet height requirements when entering directly from the competition page.

Re: Competition Tweaks
I previously suggested a maximum show entry fee. I'd like to add that it would be great if we could see a horse's current entries.

Re: Competition Tweaks
I don't know that a straight max fee would be best for every situation. I entered a competition with a 100k prize with a fee of 10k, so in that situation, 10k is reasonable. And the current entry page is a great idea. I'll add it to the list in the first post.Argent II wrote:I previously suggested a maximum show entry fee. Re: Competition Tweaks
I didn't suggest a straight maximum fee, it was based on the show payouts.

Ah, ok. Sorry to repeat things then!Argent II wrote:I didn't suggest a straight maximum fee, it was based on the show payouts.

*It would also be nice if you could search for specific events and specific levels. I.e. Searching for barrel racing and pole bending from all levels 1-3.OK, this is more flexible than what we have now. Agree, it would be good to be able to search for a *range* of levels. And it can get a little tiresome having to go through each discipline separately. However, the improvements we've just been given are already a great help -- big kudos to Larissa, who just gave us the moon. I can wait a bit for Mars, etc.

*It would also be cool if the player name showed up on the results area. It could be small, it would just be nice to know who each horse belongs to without having to click through all of the results.I'm OK with this too, but for me it's not a big deal -- I long ago developed the habit of holding down the Command or Ctrl key and clicking on the competition title to see the most detail on the event.
*Remove competitions that do not have entries within 2-3 days or so after the run date. Not sure what I think about this one -- granted, some competitions need to be shifted from daily to weekly. And the one at the top of the list, which is impossible for anyone to enter, ought to go away.
*Automatically run classes that have at least 2 horses in them if it is more than 2-3 days past run date.Hmm ... it only takes 2 horses to make a match race, and I have seen show classes judged with only one entrant. So this has real-life precedents. BTW, sometimes I've created a class that was scheduled to run on a weekday, found it not filled, and left it up in the hope that more players would see it over the weekend and enter. That sometimes works.
*Put some kind of % cap on show fees, so that if you want to charge higher fees, you have to actually add to the pot. So that a player can't charge $5000 for a show that has a $500 prize.![]()

Yes, indeed! When there is too great an imbalance between entry fee and purse, the lower placings (4th, maybe 3rd, sometimes even 2nd!) don't win enough to even get their entry fees back.

Perhaps also filters such as: English, Western, Racing and Driving?
