Fading vs non-fading black
I don't know if this has been suggested before or just spoken about in another topic (or if I just thought to talk about it but never did).
Anyway, it's about the black coat in the game. In all other coat colors (with and without dilutions) there are variations of darker and lighter shades. But the black horses all have the same jet black color.
In real life there are few horses that are truly jet black all year round. Most black horses have their coats bleached by the sun during summer but there are both fading and non-fading black horses, and many variations in how much they bleach in the sun.
I understand that it could be difficult, if not impossible, to have black coats changing color due to the seasons in the game. But from my own experience with black horses in real life, very few are jet black even with their winter coats.
I used to hang around in a stable, some 13+ years ago, where they had quite a few black shetland ponies. As far as I can remember their coats varied from dark golden brown to almost jet black. One in particular looked very much like dark brown with his thick winter coat and during summer some of them had their coats bleached more than the others. Even the manes and tails had varied amount of black and brown color.
Even if it can be done or not with fading or non-fading black in the game, it would be more realistic if there were at least some kind of variation for black coats as well.
Black horses can have more or less red/brown in their manes/tails like this one:

They can have more dark brown winter coats like the one on the left and the one in the front in this picture (and both have varied amount of brown in their manes):

Example of extreme bleaching in the sun (if not possible to have fading blacks in game it wouldn't be neccessary to have this extremely bleached variation of a black coat):

Re: Fading vs non-fading black
Where I do think this is something that is unnecessary for the core gameplay, this is something I believe would really refine the game.
I've worked with a lot of Icelandic horses IRL (link 2), and all of them has had "fiery" manes. Perhaps some breeds are more prone to it than others? Different shades of black/sunfading would be such a nice implementation - I mean, I looove colours, and this gets the colour nerd inside me going (haha)
Great idea :)

Re: Fading vs non-fading black
I think this is a great idea, I also think this would be good for bay/buckskin etc horses too because my bay mares have a bit of fading in their manes during the summer, and I find it's not always just the tips, it includes the whole top layer of their manes.

Re: Fading vs non-fading black
My horses are in stables or under trees, I like them unfaded LOL!

Re: Fading vs non-fading black
And if this is added, if the horses have blankets put on or are stabled, the bleaching does not effect them. A bit off topic here; but perhaps could clipping their coats be added?
