FOUND Eye Catching Stallions

Post by Weaving »

I'm starting a new line of horses and I want some beautiful stallions to breed to, I'm willing to pay anywhere up to $20,000 for the right horse, the more checks on the list below, the more money I'll pay. As a quick aside, if anyone submits a stallion with an exceptional Show Record or Breeder's Report then that $20,000 can definitely stretch. So without further ado, in order of importance, the ideal candidate would have (items in bold are essential, the rest are preferable but optional):

-A generally pleasing appearance
-An even conformation with neither an upward or downward sloping build*
-A well proportioned head, not too concave
-A not too heavy build

-A long full tail
-A short mane (would be willing to accept medium length, but no super fluffy manes please!)
-No white markings
-A height of between 15.0hh to 18.0hh
-Metallic colouring
-A decent breeder's report
-Mixed heritage i.e. Thoroughbred x Cleveland Bay, or Half Arabian, or a Grade Horse

Image

*The conformation pictured here is around the sort of thing I'm looking for, willing to accept a little heavier or lighter.

There really is wiggle room on all of these aspects, but if the horse doesn't check at least 6 of the 11, then its unlikely I will consider him. Please, please if you think you have something suitable don't hesitate to post on here with the price you would be happy to accept for use of him as a stud.

One final note, if anyone has any mares that also fit this category who they would be interested in brood leasing or selling then please comment here also!

Pictured horse is splendid! :D Warmblood?

I hope you are considering a multi-generational project. Nature has her own little jokes with us IRL, and the HWO computer seems to simulate that from time to time (the best laid plans of breeders going awry ...). :geek:

Sure can't blame you for not wanting to study over 2500 stud listings.

All the horses described below are solid colors; they or their parents were conceived before spots went online.

-------------------------------

Some of mine satisfy some of your criteria and (1) they are probably going to be around awhile; (2) they are already publicly posted; and (3) their fees are in 3 figures. They have progeny.

-- A mixed breed with a good competition record. Ancestry is a blend of Thoroughbred, Arabian, Baladi, North African Barb, and Turkmene (plus some attempts at Kathiawari and Cleveland Bay). He rates 4/5 Thoroughbred (at 17.0 hh he is 1" too tall).

http://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/93425

-- Eye candy! By my math, he's 75% Arabian and 25% Forest Horse. Showing talent of his own, and his parents have about 2 dozen championships between them.

-- This guy did not quite make it to Hackney, but is smart, fast, and graceful. Also a color (dilution) carrier. NQ Hackney = 50% Norfolk Trotter, 25% Thoroughbred, and 25% Arabian. He is usually among the top ten performers in Norfolk Trotter, all genders and disciplines.

-------------------------------

I've seen a lot in this game to make me appreciate the powers of Norman Cobs and Andalusians. My friend HorseLady72 has some gifted stallions worthy of attention:

Normal Norman, half Norman Cob. OK, so he looks kinda "stocky" -- he can give power to a light mare, made me a fine sport horse "Sunbeam".

Snud ("snow and mud") is Norman's son out of Furiosa, high-ranking Andalusian. Just getting started in competition.

-------------------------------

In the Forum, this topic has a lot of good advice; I recommend it if you haven't seen it already: "Getting frustrated with creating a new breed" in Gameplay Questions and Help. (I studied the pedigree of an Arabian stallion with "normal" strength -- lurking way back in his ancestry was a Shetland Pony! )

Good luck, whichever stallions you decide on. :D

Firstly thank you all for getting back to me so quickly and with such a beautiful selection!

The first two are a little to concave in the face for me (though incredibly beautiful it has to be said!) I will certainly use Just What I Wanted and might also grab a breeding from Normal Norman. Thanks so much for saving me the trouble of combing through all of the studs available, I did make a start earlier today but it really is time consuming! The horse pictured above is a Selle Francais, and a very handsome chap! This is the breed I will be focusing on once I've managed to create a few, I think I'm only a couple of days away now!

Aela his conformation is to die for! I will definitely grab a breeding or two from him once I get a mare with a long tail to counteract his cute bobbed one!

And as for you, how did you guess what I was up to ;) Your boy really is a stunner, I need to find a good mare to match him to, but I should be able to do that this evening if you are around? Also I flatly refuse to pay you $1 for him, he's beautiful! If you could put him up for say $5000 for me that would be brilliant?

Somewhat off topic, but this guy is not a color carrier. Cream is dominant so it doesn't matter if his dam was palomino, he will never produce dilute offspring unless bred to dilute mares.

EDIT: Have grabbed a handful of breedings off him now and don't want to abuse him! Thank you ever so much, I'll let you know how the babies turn out! So excited!

No prob!

Speaking of pretty and drafts; did I imagine you produced a cream Boulonnais (showed up under new foals born)? Been looking through your stuff and couldn't find one.

I've produced a few that I have released, I think I have one kicking around somewhere... Are you interested? He's not getting any use with me. Will find him and link him, one second... Here he is Dannes
I'm a bit rubbish at colours but I'm pretty sure he's double cream. I can sell him to you for a token of $1 if you'd like? ;)
