Just curious

Post by Totina »

I would guess that many are as curious as I am about the progress of the game and all the contents that will be added in the future. I just wonder if anyone here has any idea on what is currently being worked on, either by hearing news from reliable sources or just pure speculations.

I read something about the possibility to filter the competitions page that was said to be implemented "in a couple of days". That was two months ago...
Since then I have been getting more curious to what is happening, the development road map has not been updated for quite some time, so if anyone here knows something (or just guessing) about the current state of the game it would be great to hear about it.

8-) Second that.

On the horse/profile page, under "Showing", there are two "Coming Soon" features I've been waiting for eagerly: Competing and Results History. The first one implies that the owner could enter the horse in public shows from that page, which would automatically filter for all the relevant eligibility factors. :ugeek: No more mares for stallion classes (or vice-versa), and no more hands-high horses for In-Hand Jumping!

But is it only a dream ...

At the moment Larissa is working on a layout update for the site which means going through every page and creating/coding. So it's a very long and arduous process. I think she's been doing a bit of background stuff as well like bug fixing and whatnot. I think the competition update is planned for after the layout update.
Here's a link to the developer's blog she created and has updated recently:

I know no one here is being ungrateful and are just genuinely curious as to what is going on but I think it's a good opportunity to keep in mind that Larissa is a full time wife, full time mom and has a full time job! When you read this Boss (as I am sure you will) we are so grateful you have taken the time to make this site for us plebs! <3

As often, our dreams and desires run ahead of reality and practicality. :geek:

:D So here's gratitude to all who have made and are making the game as good as it is, and hope and support for making it better.

Scythian and I will be throwing some more RW money and PTs at the problems and possibilities on 4/1. 8-)

And of course there is no end to imagination and desire -- we wish the emoji included a (happy) prancing pony and (laughing) horse or donkey.

Progress is made every day but right now everything is happening on my private test server. Which is why I started the blog Alaina mentions above, so I can at least keep you guys up to date about whats happening.

As Alaina said I'm working on layout updates but not to every page individually. Yes there are basic structure changes that have an affect on every page (this is completed) but my primary focus is updating the horse profile page itself right now so I can add in new features:
- show results history (do I hear cheering?)
- enter shows from the horses page with proper event filtering (I'm sure I hear cheering now!)
- assigning tack and wearables
- genetic testing

The last two points may not be added right away but the layout and interface for both is being created now. They'll just be hidden elements until the features are ready.

Some additional changes coming with this layout update:
- feeding will be simplified and available right on the main horse profile page
- training will be merged into the main horse profile page as well and the interface will be simplified but training will largely work about the same.

Since these are pretty big changes I can't work on them piece-by-piece like I do many other changes so you won't see anything on the game until the whole of it is (mostly) ready.
I'll keep everyone updated via the blog (I may even post a screenshot of the current redesign of the horse profile page tonight!)

Ohhhh, now thats a fun idea! I'll have to see what I can do about that :)

As I said I was just curious. :)
I do not expect anyone to work with a game 24/7 but I was not asking for when the next update will be out, since there could be many reasons to why things take a lot longer than expected, but what kind of update it would be.

I did not know about the blog earlier. Perhaps I just did not look hard enough and in the right places to find it, I have been a bit busy myself lately with my studies at the university, but I will remember to check the blog for any information in the future. :)

I really appreciate your work with the game, Larissa!
I know coding includes a lot of hard work and can be very time consuming. I have had a few classes about programming in my studies and it really puts your work into perspective.

Oh that is definitely cheering! All those upcoming updates look wonderful! Wearables, along with white patterns, are my absolute weaknesses. Thanks for developing such a nice game ;)
