Crossbreed instead of new breed ?
Hi,
I'm struggling a bit to understand if it is possible for me to get a
part Tarpan x Mongolian
from crossing AC Tarpan x Mongolian (my line already) ?
I only got (4) Hucul foals, till now.
I understand that my pair matches the standard for the Hucul (people would want that), but I need to get the mixed breed in order to cross the next gen breed I am aiming for.
Do I have to (kind of) "downgrade" my pair of horses in order not to fullfil the standard, and get more chance to breed the mix ? Or is it only about luck and more tries at this point ?

Re: Crossbreed instead of new breed ?
It is possible, but there are a small handful of breeds that we all struggle with this with. Take a closer look at the breed you want to create and the Hucul foals (I'm assuming you don't want Hucul) and see the differences in them. Then aim for parent breed horses that are just out of wack for the Hucul and on the outer ends of the breed you're aiming for. Usually the height is the best and easiest way to funk-up the foals to get a cross rather than that new breed.Hexens wrote: ↑Wed Mar 19, 2025 9:42 am Hi,

In the future, we've been promised a way to downgrade our new breeds to just mixes if we want to, but that's not yet available.
