Forgotten Breeds: The Landais Pony
The Landais Pony is a French breed that is critically endangered. There's estimated to be less than 200 still in existence. In HWO, only 7 still exist, which is the smallest number of any breed. Landais Ponies are very adaptable horses and have been used for everything from driving to casual pleasure riding, but they're most commonly found in show jumping. They range in height from 11.2hh to 13.2hh. Physically, they are small headed, muscular, and have a long back.
Mission
My mission is to bring Landais Pony numbers up from 7 to 100 (or more
) by starting with their two origin breeds, Arabians and Welsh Ponies. I will keep their accepted height and breed them to excel in show jumping. Maybe one day they'll become a popular breed on HWO!

Other Notes:
You might have seen my other post, "Belgian Project Log" under my side account which is creatively named goldie_side. Yes, I have two breed projects going on at once. Yes, I am crazy. Next question
Currently, my farm is over run with Thoroughbreds from an abandoned project, so all of them (except O' Mortals and Whiskey, he's not for sale) are for sale for $1000 unless otherwise marked. Just ping me on here with the link to one you'd like and I'll put them up! I'll also probably accept any other offer if you can't afford/feel like the horse is worth less than what I'm asking.

Re: Smile Brook Farms ;)
Y'all. Why I am doing this to myself??
So it turns out that another breed, the Welara Pony, has the same parent breeds as Landais, so I've gotten a bunch of those but no Landais so far. I've had to choose studs and mares that have the highest evals as Landais, which it turns out is VERY hard to do with Arabians
I did just find one Arabian stud with a 4* Landais eval that I bred with my Welsh Pony mare with a 4* Landais eval...fingers crossed. If anyone has any tips feel free to lmk (I need it)

IT HAPPENED!! Those 4* eval parents I found paid off!! Meet Victory, my first Landais foal! Thank my lucky stars, he's a 5* eval, 60k HGP, gold intelligence and tempo, what a great start! ...Now I just have to do it again

They've been amazing! If you ever have any that you want to get rid of I'd probably be more than willing to buy them off of you

Re: Smile Brook Farms ;)
If you are interested in taking my last welsh, https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/4450165, I would offer her to you at a low price.

Re: Smile Brook Farms ;)
I'd love to take her! How much were you thinking? I saw she's up for 10,000 so I went ahead and offered 8,000, but I'd be willing to pay the full 10k.BrokenOak wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 11:43 pm If you are interested in taking my last welsh, https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/4450165, I would offer her to you at a low price.

Re: Smile Brook Farms ;)
I accepted the offer for 8k. I hope you're able to get more Landais from her

Re: Smile Brook Farms ;)
Update!!
I just had a Landais earn Champion in Show Jumping for the first time!! And it was the first foal I ever got, so I'm super excited about that.
Victory ;)

In other news, I've decided to start selling any Landais that don't meet my requirements for balance confo, HGP, or whatever else. I created an entire post about it, which you can find here. They're great horses, just not for my purpose, and a great choice for any rare breed collectors. I also think they're very reasonably priced, as opposed to some other horses I've seen on the market recently.
