Looking at Uncommon breeds to possibly breed
Hello! As the subject says, I'm looking at eventually breeding a rare/uncommon breed. I look at horses for sale and see alot of Arabians, Thoroughbreds, Belgians and a few others. What are some in-demand rare/uncommon breeds people would like to see in the market? They'd have to be high in-demand as I don't want to do research and put time/money on a breed that won't turn a profit. Thanks for reading and sharing your input!

Re: Looking at Uncommon breeds to possibly breed
I'm not sure about others, but I struggle to find plain marked breeds. I am currently working on reviving the Kiger Mustang, to some success, but I am very picky about my base stock. I am focusing on Andulusians, Arabians, Spanish Barbs, and Mustangs. There are some great high GP arabians on the market, and even a few nice Mustangs, but I struggle to find horses that aren't patterned, and arabians that are not grey. Spanish Barbs also seem fairly difficult to come by. I would browse the breed wiki and find a middle breed that is used in a lot of recipes and isn't easy to come by on the market and set your sights there. That's my two cents, and if you happen to know of any non patterned spanish barbs laying around, let me know!

Thanks! Yeah, I do find it is hard to find the basic colors and markings in most breeds. Irl, I'm a sucker for a cute dark and rich bay lolappyforever wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2024 2:14 pm I'm not sure about others, but I struggle to find plain marked breeds. Re: Looking at Uncommon breeds to possibly breed
I would honestly love to see more hard to find breeds available (especially warmbloods), however I tend to only breed to/buy purebreds that have some kind of competition potential. It would be amazing though to have another fellow breeder of Andalusians or Hanoverians.
I was recently gifted a Clydesdale stud and have since been attempting to expand on my herds gene pool while still trying to stay accurate to what you can find in real life. I know that there are a few draft breeds that seem be becoming more popular recently like the Shire, Percheron and Clydesdale.

I don't know if you're still looking for a breed to work on, but I've recently started revamping the Landais breed, specifically for show jumping. I'm only about 2 generations into it, but I've already had 2 horses make champion or higher and made roughly $250,000 off of them. If you'd be interested in breeding Landais for a different discipline, I'd be happy to give you some of my reject stock (horses with >30 balance confo). I have a few with relatively high speed and movement confos.MSLEquestrian wrote:

On my main account (that I haven't touched in like, 2 years) I have some movement bred Karabairs. They go for upwards of 300-500K for trained studs or untrained broods. Granted the market has changed a touch since I've last used them but if you want some I can go dig out a few for you! They have face markingsMSLEquestrian wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2024 5:37 pm Hello! https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3200378 <- one of the last examples I comped before getting bored with that project. Also most of the horses were bred bomb and couldn't be changed- and now they can be- so they might be better now
