Regarding farm decorations, barns and paddocks

Post by Malakai10 »

I am in the process of decorating my farm and I have found that it is very cumbersome to decorate each and every stall individually - especially when I largely want every stall in the barn to have the same decorations! Thus I would like to suggest a button that allows you to set the decorations for all the stalls in the barn - if you don't have enough of the decoration items in your inventory, then I think it should just fill in the stalls starting from the left and leave the remaining stalls blank, perhaps with a notification 'you do not have enough of [item] to decorate all stalls'.

Another thing that could work nicely (either as an alternative or in addition) would be to have boxes (that are small enough that one would not have to scroll to select all twelve stalls when on desktop!) that one can select to add the decorations to - i.e. if i want to add the barred window back wall to the second stall and then to every third stall after and the solid wooden door to the walls in between, it would be nice to be able to select which stalls to add the walls to and then apply the walls all at once. (I hope this suggestion makes sense, if not, please tell me so I can create a visual of what I am imagining.)

It would also be nice to have stall dividers between the stalls - while I imagine they weren't added in due to the angle we view the barn at, technically, we should be able to see part of them - I feel like it would just add to the aesthetic.

I would also be nice to have feed and water troughs specifically for inside stalls - I am currently using the scattered hay piles (which work) and the water troughs we do have however upon close inspection the latter very much does look like it was intended to be an outside water trough, what with the green on it.

It would also be nice if decorations changed size depending on how close or far they are from the viewer - this would apply whether one is looking at barn or pasture or viewing the entire farm. I think some perspective would just add that much more to the visual appeal - especially in farm view, the paddocks look odd with the far fence being just as high as the near.

I would also be nice that if we added something like a tree decoration inside of the paddock, the decoration would appear in farm view.

I think the farms also need to be wider/longer and - as I am relatively certain has been suggested before - paddocks that rest squarely instead of in a diamond shape. As they are now, if I were to put in every single paddock and barn that I can, I have to overlap everything. I cannot space the paddocks and barns nicely.

Also, I believe it has been mentioned that the ability to turnout horses is planned? If so, it would be nice if more than the limit of the paddock can be used - e.g. if I have a small paddock, it would be nice if I could set it to (automatically! if I had to do this manually I would cry) turnout many horses on it at different times - e.g. horse 1, 2, 3 and 4 are turned out on it from 05h00 to 12h00, horses 5, 6 and 7 from 12h00 to 14h00, horses 1, 2, 7 and 8 from 14h00 to 18h00, horses 9, 10, 11 and 12 from 18h00 to 00h00 and so on. Whether a pasture is overgrazed could be calculated based on the average number of horses in the paddock over a 24hr period.

It would also be cool if we could set it so that horses have certain tack depending on the time of day or what area they are in - i.e. the horse gets a flysheet and halter when turned out, a saddle and bridle at [selected time], etc.

It would be nice to have track pastures (to see what a track paddock is, look up paradise paddocks.) The inner track can be used for growing hay or other crops or just as a bushy, decorative area/garden (could even do something cool with it such as if you make the inner paddock look like a wild area, you might get a glimpse of a unicorn or some wildlife - purely as a visual/decoration. (What would be super duper cool is if we can decorate for different biomes/continents - e.g. if you decorate it like an African savannah, you could glimpse a rhino, if you decorate it like African rainforest, you can get an okapi, American boreal forest you get Bigfoot, etc.)) A track paddock could have some slight advantages over a normal paddock - e.g. since the track will have very limited natural grass, you can give your horse up to two or three additional feeds (as opposed to the four you can give in a barn or the one you can give in a paddock.)

It would also be nice to have a 'move to front' 'move to back' options for decorations.

And then for extra decoration, it might be nice to add things like washup areas, tack rooms, paddock shelters etc that are just added onto the barns.
