Tiger eye?

Post by Moggymoomoo »

Hi! I just popped this guy and had a few questions...

***

Does he have a tiger eye?

***

Are tiger eyes rare or common in HWO?

***

Can they be bred into a line so his offspring will have tiger eyes? And if so, what is the chance that they will have tiger eyes if bred to both dams with tiger eyes and without tiger eyes?

***

What genetics took place to give him tiger eyes, presuming he has them?

***

Do tiger eyes come with all types of coats like bay, black, grey, paint... or is it just a similar colouring to him?

***

Sorry a lot of questions, he just made me think and I'm really bad with colouring and coats especially in the game where there are soooooo many variations :?
Thank you in advance!

That is indeed tiger eye and in this game it is quite common.

I have written about tiger eye and the genetics in the pinned topic:
Horse colors: Names and pictures
viewtopic.php?t=2158

If you scroll down a bit there are a few images of different versions of tiger eye on different coats (the pictures of only the head of the horses).

In short it is a recessive gene that needs to be inherited from both parents in order to be visible (except for horses that are also champagne, then it is visible even if the horse only has one copy of the gene).

Okay, thank you! This has helped a lot- your guide is really educational and useful so thank you for taking the time to write it!
