What the heck?
I've scoured the help sections but haven't found an answer to this. When I bred my Turkmene to an Arabian, I just got a Turkmene x Arabian instead of an Akhal-Teke. Why is this? Why isn't it an Akhal-Teke?

Re: What the heck?
I've copied this from the FAQ. It's probably clearer than anything I would write.
The breed books can also be handy when trying to not create a new breed, such as for recipes that require crosses.Argent wrote:I bred two horses together and didn't get a new breed. What's wrong?
The parents must be of the correct cross or breed to make the breed you're trying to create. You can find the "recipes" for new breeds here. Also, the resulting foal must fall within the parameters of the new breed, which you can test for by buying a breed book. If you evaluate you mares and stallions against a breed standard, you can get a good idea of whether they can produce the new breed you want before you start breeding.

Hi and welcome Reny!
To produce an Akhal Teke, you need an Arabian and a Turkmene. The better their evaluation for Akhal Teke, the better your chances.
But even if your Arab is 4* for Akhal Teke and your Turkmene is 4* for Akhal Teke, there's no guarantee they will produce one --> see the foal you got. It has the correct parents and meets the Akhal Teke criteria - it's just bad luck that it's "only" an Arabian x Turkmene.
If your Arabians and your Turkmenes are less than 4* for Akhal Teke, they may still produce one, the chance is just lower.
Example: Akhal Teke height is 14.1hh to 16.3hh. Your Turkmene mare is 16.5hh and your Arabian stallion is 14.0hh --> they could still produce a foal that falls into the correct range. They could also produce a foal that's too tall for it to be an Akhal Teke.
I think there's some cases where the foal even was 4* for the new breed but still only was a Arabian x Turkmene - just bad luck. :)

Re: What the heck?
Creating a new breed is harder than it seems. I've had 1* horses create a new breed!! Other times I've created a new breed by accident, and others I've bred 5* horses 6x before getting the breed I wanted. This game is sort of going off real life scenarios. Nothing happens 100% the way you want it to...that's the fun part about the game!! unpredictable!
