What is the difference between varnish and bronzing?

What is the difference between varnish and bronzing?

Can somebody explain a very basic way of the difference? Is it simply that varnish looks a lot like roan and bronzing looks more like a solid coloration just lightened?

Everything; they're completely different genetically. Bronzing is a lightening of black-based colors, varnishing is a modified roaning of all colors.
