About

Welcome to my farm log. In this, i will document my progress with the Mangalarga Marchador (MM). Feel free to comment here for anything you would like. I've been playing this game for a long while, with many years long hiatus. Currently my goal is to breed a great selection of Mangalarga Marchadores, with good stats, 5* evaluations, competitive, and keeping the coats we usually see in MM in real life.

Mangalarga Marchadores

This project aims to breed a low COI bloodline of Mangalarga Marchadores, and help to develop a community of breeders and competitors focusing around the breed. It is also an experiment, as i am coming into it without many exemplars of the breed. I've designed 3 main stages, and will be documenting everything in this farm log.


Preparations
To do this project, i planned my farm like this:

• 1 Medium pasture and 1 medium barn for my stallions: $52,308
• 2 Large pastures for mares: $37,968
• 2 Medium pastures for fillies: 25,312
• 2 Medium pastures for colts: 25,312
• 3 Large pastures for retired horses: 56,952
• 1 large pasture for sale horses: 18,984

Amounting to a grand total of $216,836 and a maximum of 104 active horses, altough i hope it doesn't come to that. I don't know how much it costs on horse management or broodmare management training to be able to keep all of that. Bought and adopted enough mares to sum up to 16. For this stage, where COI isn't taken into account, i could have even more, and have all of them to be in foal at the same time, but i personally like to keep things as small as possible. I have chosen mares with a mean size and coat color reasonably close to what i want, so i won't need to do so much selection at stage 02.


Stage 01:Path to purebreds
I am here now
In this stage, there are very few, or maybe only one purebred horse of the target breed. In my case. I have four horses: 3 stallions and one mare. The main goal is to get 32 purebred horses from those limited horses. For that, my plan is simple:
1. Breed each stallion or mare to a purebred. If a pair of purebreds is available, breed them to get the maximum amount of purebred foals as possible.
2. Keep the fillies and discard the colts, unless the colt is a purebred.
3.Keep breeding to the purebreds, without caring for COI, or any other characteristics, the only goal is to progress untill achieving 16 stallions and 16 mares of the target breed.
