Frosted Mane?

Post by Raikit »

So I'm a little confused by this girl
.

I know that she's greying out and I know that she's dun. She was born with bright red legs so I've been assuming she's red-based. Now she's a bit older and there's a lot of "frosting" going on in her mane and tail. Tail doesn't surprise me so much because grey can do that, but her mane has me a bit confused. Is this due to her dun? Does grey occasionally affect the mane and I just haven't come across it before? It's possible she has silver, but silver doesn't affect red so I wouldn't expect it to be showing here. Some feedback would be greatly appreciated. ^_^

Here's her progression so far:

Gray horses gray all over, including the mane, so that's just from the gray.

Huh. None of my other gray horses did that so I just figured it didn't do it. I know it does in real life, but I hadn't seen it here.

Grey dilutes the mane as well, but in this case your horse is Flaxen.

Flaxen Red Dun going Grey :)
