A puzzling Turkmene
So. This horse started as a Grulla, then changed into this coloration which looks like maybe a Dunliano? Or maybe there's some sooty messing with me? The mane and tail look rather silver, and I'm not sure how silver Palomino coloration gets.
Anyway, I just got a foal (paired with a Palomino mare) and... the foal is a Smoky Seal. That would imply that one's black based. Since this one underwent a change, I feel like it's the one that's black based, but I'm not sure if I'm missing something, and I'm very frankly puzzled by all of this.
I know of the AC horses that change colors, but normally the mane or tail color is a tell for that, right? But the horse looked completely like a Grulla and didn't have the current silvery coloration, so it was a bit of a shock when the color swapped out.
In any case, any answers to what this stallion's color might actually be would be enormously welcome.

The horse is a glitch. Age him to 10 and he will change again. Until then it's anybody's guess.EclipticEnd wrote:

Yes, you're correct. Mane and tails usually give away the true color. Sometimes even the tails are bugged, so if still confused, look to the mane. Also, so you know, some of these glitch coats can change multiple times before their true coat appears. But that's quite a bit rarer of an occurrence.EclipticEnd wrote:

This stallion's age is still under 10 years. I'm thinking, this horse is likely one of these rare instances where he'll change to his true coat color on his tenth birthday.
He'll most likely be a bay, brown or wild bay or black. His son looks to be a brown... smoky brown. But he most likely got the cream gene from his dame. So the stallion looks like an E/- with unknown agouti right now (no visual coat color)... but either parent of his son could theoretically (at this point) have at least a brown gene At/-
So at this point... age him these last number of months to reveal his truth. None of these glitch coats have been proven to survive past the 10th birthday.

Thanks for the advice. I aged him to 10 and he's settled back on Grulla.BlackOak2 wrote:So at this point... age him these last number of months to reveal his truth. None of these glitch coats have been proven to survive past the 10th birthday.
