High COI
- Hey there, I'm somewhat new to this game (it's been less than a week since I signed up) and I've got the hang of most things besides COI. I know it's roughly to do with genes but I'm a little confused as to whether a higher COI is a positive or negative thing, and how do you increase the COI in breeding if it is a good thing?
I know this is probably a silly question, but I couldn't see COI really mentioned anywhere else and I'm not all that fluent on horse genetics so I'm a little confused.
Thanks in advance!

Re: High COI
Coefficient of Inbreeding. The higher % the COI, the more inbred the horse is. That's the simplest way to explain it.
It has no effect at all one way or the other at this time. If you want to try to keep it low, you can do frequent outcrosses to horses who are completely unrelated to your own, but I think most people at this point really don't care.

Re: High COI
Quite correct Syn! A horse with a higher COI is more likely to breed true, but as with all things in genetics it's only a greater likelihood, not a done deal. Most players breed without regard to COI, and as a result the majority of the horses in the game have very high COI. Since there's no detrimental effects from high COI you can safety disregard it from consideration in your breeding program. Unless you want to keep it down, and if so then so be it! You do you.

Signature? I don't need no stinkin' signature! Everybody knows who I am already!
