New Breed Rating?

Post by Symphoenae »

So I've been breeding for Losinos so I can hoard them away in my rare breed Haven, and I just got this Losino Filly a few minutes ago with her overall rating 4. Her height rating is poor- is this normal?

From what I assumed the only 4 rating new breeds that still count are 4 ratings with build being poor. Is this a glitch or did I just assume wrong?

Not a glitch.
Ratings for new-made breeds can be as low as 3-star, though incredibly rare. You may find that when she's all grown up she may actually have the perfect height for it (visually) but she'll still rate as failing for height. This is because, instead of being a
****
Actually, after reviewing her evaluations and some evaluations of breeds around her size, I suspect she'll probably come out as a 13.0 hand adult, just under the 13.1 minimum. However, she could read as a 13.1 hand, visually and still rate as poor. We call these a 'short' 13.1 meaning that the standard calls for a 13.15 instead of a 13.10. Since we can't see the numbers beyond the tenth's place, if they end up failing for height, but read within, we generally say 'short' or 'tall'. If in centimeters or inches, you'd likely see exactly why she failed.
Of course, when she reaches adult height, she may suddenly rate as 5 star.
Height is a tad malleable as some of us have seen when breeding for new breeds.
All of this being said, new breeds can fail for any of these requirements and still pop right. In fact, as I've said before, the lowest rating we had pop (confirmed) was a 3-star that failed in both height and (if I remember correctly) in body size. Just missed both.
It appears the pair of parents you had, were a great pairing and offered you what you needed. Sometimes one parent pairing seems to pop more of the correct breed than another, even if they seem to pair better and offer better evaluated offspring.

Eh, the mysteries of HWO!
