Colored stats in breeders report

Post by Rose90067 »

I had a question regaring the colored stats in breeders report (Red, Yellow, Green).

Which color is actually better? (Not including red, as that one I figure is not great). I used to think green was the best, and yellow was the in between (Because I started thinking of traffic lights), but then it started to seem as if yellow was better. But at the same time, the actual comments that go along with the colors tend to seem equally as good, or alternating (Like sometimes Green comments seem like better comments, and sometimes yellow seem better).

ALSO, (Just looking for conforation here) is the breeders report like the VISIABLE traits of a horse that work well together with confo? Like even if a horse has 50 movement in confo, but has red movement in breeders report, the horse does not have good movement overall, because movement is a fairly visiable trait?

You've gotten a good handle on it! :D

We usually describe the colors (from worst to best) like this: Red, No Color (or Black), Green, Gold.
So when you think of the 'yellow' in fact, being Gold, it brings a little new light to it. Gold is a very strong stat. And yes, the comments do give us more information than the color might. Because a comment in gold color can seem awesome, yet a green color with a certain comment could be better.
For more information on comments, and the way the community has nominally rated them, see this link:
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=7149

For the most part, the comments run from best (at the top of each stat) to worst. But, because we Do Not exactly know how they've been coded, the communities sorting may not be perfect.

As for how the Breeder's Comments relate to the horse itself.
The BR takes the horse's 'visible' genes (not the actual look of the horse, I'll explain in a moment) and the horse's physical conformation and adds these together. The resulting number is coded to a certain amount of comments and the comment then picked randomly and displayed for us. So, to be direct, Yes, a 50 movement in conformation with a red movement comment means that the horse has a near perfect body for the movement stat by awful genes for movement.
Now, the 'visible' genes a horse has. Because each horse has a span of genes for each one of it's traits, we don't see ALL of them. What we see is the one that's been activated and is affecting the horse itself. So, for instance, the horse is born. It received movement genes from both parents spanning 80 to 120. The conformation score (which we can see) is 20. So the range in total is now 100 to 140. But the actual value that affects our horse is randomly chosen and is 95 (then add the movement conformation score of 20) and is totaled to 115. And this is the value that the comment is chosen from. The horse still has the 80 to 120 value and can pass all of these values on to any foal it has (plus or minus a variable that can improve or worsen those numbers), but it may not pass all of them onward as well. The foal of such a horse may a broader range (like 70 to 150) a shorter range (80 to 90) or any available variable therein. We actually don't know the improvement or worsening or also the variables that determine how much or how little is passed onward. We just know it does. ;)
As a last note: Strong genes are more important than conformation scores when first developing a good horse. There is a lot more movement in genes than there are in conformation score ranges. And finally, keep forging ahead! You seem to have a good grasp on it already.
