What colors are my horses?
Please help...
https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3011292 Some type of dun
https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3010308 Some champane mix...
https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3007679 I'm just wondering how a Silver Buckskin Sooty Roan came out of (what seems to be) a Silver Perlino and a Brown Roan Tobiano.
https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3014061 She wasan't born the "normal" shade for a seal brown so maby she is something else...
https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3014633 I am just baffled by this one.
Thank you!

3010308 - oh! A tiny. And yes, there's champagne, and a cream, this is what's making the freckles so light.

3007679 - Silver buckskin roan with tiger eye, so you have the coat color. Now for where it came from. So, as you seem to be aware, or are coming aware, a brown horse cannot produce a bay horse. So the bay gene couldn't have come from the sire. However, the silver perlino (dame) is a bay base. She threw her bay gene. So this foal nabbed one bay gene from the dame and either received a brown gene from the sire, OR has an absent (a) agouti gene for the other. As for the color, buckskin. Buckskin is a perlino with only one cream gene. So it goes like this: Bay (no creams); Buckskin (one cream); Perlino (two creams). The mare can only ever throw one cream gene. She will always throw at least Buckskins (or palominos or smoky browns or smoky blacks, depending on her agouti and extension genes she carries). So, you get the cream, silver and bay from dame, the roan from sire and the tiger eye from both. Sooty is probably mostly from sire, but not guaranteed.
3014061 - This is the foal coat of a cream carrier. When a brown foal comes out looking like this tannish color, it's a good indication that it inherited a cream, making it a 'smoky brown'. If you take a look at the sire, his coat came out this color too (though, certainly a different shade). This horse also has pangare; this gene must've been hiding in the dame's line (pangare doesn't show on black, though there is a pseudo-pangare that will show on some black coats, just to confuse us

3014633 - This is a brown dun pangare. The dun is turning the brown coat into a gray-hue.

There's actually no silver on this one. Any lightening in the mane is due to Lp.BlackOak2 wrote:prplebird20 wrote: https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3010308 Some champane mix...

I was on the fence. The foal pic has that light mane... so. The dame has the same silvery foal mane and she comes from pseudo-whites.Silverine wrote:There's actually no silver on this one. Any lightening in the mane is due to Lp.BlackOak2 wrote:

It was a toss up for me. It came up silver.

The dam actually doesn't have silver either. Check out her parentage - a buckskin and a classic cream. No place for silver to hide.BlackOak2 wrote:I was on the fence. The foal pic has that light mane... so. The dame has the same silvery foal mane and she comes from pseudo-whites.Silverine wrote:

But we've had a similar discussion before. You're more used to working with these triple dilutes, so if you say it's true, I'm not going to argue.

And... still looking forward for the gene testing to come to us!

As a correction - the horse I called Classic Cream is actually Smoky Cream Champagne.BlackOak2 wrote: Eh... I still say that classic cream has silver.Rather, COULD.

But back to the silver. Silver on anything other than black + champagne + 2xCream/2xPearl/CreamPearl will look at least slightly gold. Those particular mixes with silver will be white. No silver they will be gray-ish/blue-ish.
Here are some examples:
Classic Cream Pearl

Classic Cream Dun (this one has a gold-ish tint because of the dun)

Classic Pearl

Silver Classic Cream

The dapples again. I do keep forgetting about that coat change with the silver.
I suppose at this point in time, I'll always be a 50/50 if I remember them or not.

Even being around this game for as long as I have, even I can't remember everything.
