Questions
First off:
How do I keep my horses from getting too fat or too skinny???
Next: Is there a chance of getting a really good horse from the adoption center?
Third: Should I keep or sell this mare: Alima
(hope I did the link right)
Then: Do foals on this game just generally look kinda weird or is this filly bad: Camanchi

Last: Keep or sell this stallion: Baron

Re: Questions
You have the concept down for linking horse's, but the '1234' that you used is a filler. You need to use the actual ID for the horse you want to link. You'll find the ID at the end of the url for each horse. Luckily, you linked their names, so I should still be able to give you some help with them as well.BABBAGE wrote:First off:

So, to keep horses form getting too fat or too skinny, use a barn and use weight gain mix with performance when you need to. 100% in a barn will generally mean your horse will not gain or loose weight (there are a couple exceptions, but for the most part, you won't need to worry about them just yet).
However, don't worry about obesity or starvation just now, no horse can die from that in-game. The only horses that weight will effect negatively is competition horses. So if you're not going to be a serious competitor (or won't be just yet), then don't worry too much about weight.
If you want to delve deeper into weight, I have some links in my quick-links that get much deeper into the topic.
Horses from the Adoption Centre are... basic. It's kind of like pulling horses from a herd of mustangs. There's a fairly wide variable acting, but none of them are going to be great however, none of them are going to be absolutely awful. What Adoption Centre horses have, is new genes, clean COI (coefficient of inbreeding) and unknown hidden genes. Of these, the unknown hidden genes might be the most interesting.
So... No, there isn't a chance of getting a 'really good horse' from the AC, however, it doesn't take long to build up those mediocre looking horses into a top-tier competition or breeding bloodline. The great thing about this game, is with a little bit of homework and a little bit of luck, any player can produce a top competitor in only a handful of months. And, there are many ways to play this game or also win this game. It's more like a sandbox, to play how each of us likes and to develop a horse or breed that we want.
So, there is value and high value, in some cases, to AC horses, but none of them will 'beat the game'.
Your horses.
Alima appears to be a fairly average arabian from the AC. Average HGP, with no red comments (this is good). I can see the conformation scores (but isn't necessary to succeed in this game), and what I see is either positive or fairly negative, depending on how they're interacting with the base genes for those same stats.
I know, that sounds like a bunch of nonsense to you.

But from also looking at her foal and the stud, it looks like... she is as average is. Not great, not bad. She'll have foals a bit all over the place. She could work for a new bloodline, but doesn't appear to have anything unusually special... that being said, her balance is quite strong.
Baron, in my opinion, is slightly 'less-than' over your mare, Alima. Still average, but he falls on the worse side of that line. He can still also be used to start a new bloodline, but I'd suggest culling his foals a tad extra hard. Starting from these AC stock, it's bound to be a bit tough and uphill at times, but even the worst horses can be turned around with relatively easy work so that their descendants succeed quite well (proven, I've done this myself).
Camanchi is your foal from these two. I'd suggest culling her. Not because she 'looks weird', but because her HGP is well below both her parents. Foals on this game are born like they are in real life, they have really tall hips, compared to their withers, but within about 6 months, they generally even out. Most will even out in only a turn or two (1 month). As far as her face is concerned, she's an arabian and the genes from both of her parents have given her a 'dished face'. Eventually, her head will look like both of her parents.
I'd suggest you let the HGP of the parents be your guide. Those that are below BOTH parents, rehome (or sell, but it might be a hard sell). Those that are above that same gender parent (filly and mare or colt and stallion), that's generally a good outcome, keep that one. But also beware of those foals born that are drastically above the HGP of both parents They might do alright, but these are a bit notorious for never giving us good offspring. They're not immediate cull-worthy foals, just ones to keep a closer watch on and evaluate those foals a little more strictly.
Anything else?

Thank you very much!
I only have one more question: What do you mean by "culling"? I know that culling in real life is like killing/removing them, but what does that mean here?

It means the same. Though, because of the age groups we can have here, we've been asked by admin to try to refrain from using such words like 'killing'.
Culling, on here can also include selling the horses. But for the most part, culling does generally indicate rehoming them, with the rehome button.
