Hunter R⨳S Arabians [ Project Completed ]

Post by Charlette »

I have completed my Hunter Arabian project! It started with breeding for appearance and turned into breeding competitively. I have gained lots of experience and knowledge about breeding. Now that I have successfully bred 2 RHs, I am moving on to another breed and possibly discipline too. At the moment, I am still thinking about which breed/discipline to choose but I will make another topic about it in the near future!

I have bred the first couple of purebred mohawk Arabians after a long night of trial and error
Now that I have them I have come up with a couple things I want to try.

1. Breeding super light / dark and LP mohawk Arabs
Atm I am working on light colored Arabs. I am going to start a separate line of Arabs to breed with LP TBs and once they are PB Arab I will breed them to my mohawk Arabs and hope for the best

2. Feathered Arabs
I am not going to start this until I have achieved the PB LP Mohawk Arabs, but once I do it will be the usual start a separate line, breed to PB, cross with mohawk Arabs and hope for the best

2/16/21

It has only been about a week since I've started this project and I have made a lot of progress.

I am decreasing the price of grinders now that I have a steady flow of Mohawk Arabians being produced. The prices will now be in the 200k - 500k range like normal grinders. I plan on eventually lowering the price down to below 200k but until then that's what the prices will be. ;)

Achieved Goal(s):
I have bred 2 fillies with LP that should have mohawks. I don't really have any horse in particular that I am using as a reference to what I want my Arabians with LP to look like. I will find one soon so I can see if I am getting closer to what I want. I am still going to breed a separate line of mohawk Arabians that are a solid color. The main color I have are still Cremellos and Palominos.

Added Goal(s):
1. Green movement Mohawk Arabian
This is pretty self explanatory. Since I am champing my Mohawk Arabians in the hunter discipline I might as well work towards improving them in it. One of the most common things I have seen in horses that do well in Hunter is green / gold movement. I don't have a specific comment I am working towards at the moment but I will think of that once I have a green/gold mohawk Arabian.

I will breed a separate line of Arabians to get a green/gold movement comment then crossing them with my mohawk Arabian lines. I plan on breeding them to Arabians that have a gold / green comment but I am considering crossing them with part Friesian / Trakehner horses with gold / green movement but that may be a bit expensive for me.

2/24/21

The average BR and Confo of my Mohawk Arabian line has improved by a lot. Most of them have 6 stats ( green or gold ). I have not achieved a green movement comment yet but I have gotten closer. There are now more colors other than palominos and cremellos. I hope to have 6 - 10 different colors.

Achieved Goal(s):
Better movement BR comments

Added Goal(s):
I want to train and test one of my more developed mohawk Arabians in the Hunter discipline to see if their scores have improved. From what I have tested they have sores 45+ I am hoping to get scores in the 50s eventually but for now I am hoping to see scores 47+. The highest score I have gotten was 48.23

Wowie it has already almost been a month since I have started this project! I have made a lot of progress. I have lowered the price of grinders from 1 million+ to around 500k, bred the quality back into them, and improved their hunter scores. I have decided that my mohawk Arabian grinders will not be sold for under 300k but the non-mohawk Arabians will.

Achieved Goal(s)
I have bred a mohawk Arabian with a green movement comment. It took a while but I did it! Too bad his scores in hunter were not as high as I was hoping but luckily another horse ( minus the green movement comment ) got very good scores!
Horse with the green movement: https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/2951134

I have bred 2 mohawk Arabians with a 50+ score in hunter. One horse stays in the 48+ score range for the most part which is great! Odd thing is he is also the horse with the not so good BR... His confo is decent though I have bred him but the foal I trained hoping the scores would be pretty good were not as good as I would've hoped. He doesn't have a constant high(ish) score its pretty sporadic. In one competition he could be in the 48+ zone and the next below 47. Ngl those are still good scores but given how well his sire did it does not live up to the standard so he will be sold as a grinder.
50+ scoring horses:
Love of Arrowhead - https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/2951134
Classy Strider - https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/2947153

Added Goal(s)
1. Breeding green movement into all or at least the competing mohawk Arabians
There would be no point in working hard to achieve a green movement comment if I didn't plan on maintaining it. At the moment, I only have 1 mohawk Arabian with a green movement comment so I want to work on making it a standard for my herd of mohawks.

2. Breeding gold movement into my herd
A green movement comment is great but that also means there is room for improvement. I dont really have a solid plan for how I am going to achieve this but I reckon overtime if I breed enough green movement horses eventually I may get a gold. This is more of a connection to the main goal not really a small one but would be a huge milestone

3. Hunter score over 50
Now that I have decided that I am going to try and advance my herd in the Hunter discipline I need a goal for that too so here it isss! I already have 2 horses that have scored over 50 but I want to make it a standard now. If after 10 starts a horse doesn't score at least 2 50s or consistently over 48 I will sell them as a grinder. I can not overcrowd my accounts with substandard horses so that's the best way to "get rid" of them. Rehoming hem would be a waste.

4. Breed a green strength Arabian
This is another goal that will be tied into the main goal. Atm I am not worried about a mohawk Arabian with green strength just a purebred Arabian with a green strength comment. I'm not sure when I will be able to start working on it but I suppose after my herd has a standard of colts with at least 5 golds 1 green ( movement ).

3/12/21

I've taken a break on training and have been focusing more on breeding goals. There isn't anything big to update on so this is just going to be an added goals update. I have also decided to turn my Mohawk Arabians into mohawk Poney Francais de Selle horses. Im going to keep my mohawk arabians as they make good grinders

Added Goal(s)
1. Paint Arabians
I have taken a liking to paint horses recently and think they would be a great addition to my Arabians. I plan on crossing them with NABs and Mustangs since those seem to have the coloration I was aiming for. There is no specific base color that I want just paint in general

3/29/21

Jee this month flew by! Now it has been about 2 months since I have started breeding Mohawk Arabians and they have improved by a lot. I made a standard for them and am starting to reinforce it. 60+ movement and 30+ strength. Once all or most of my herd has that I will start working on improving the tempo and balance.

I have temporarily set off the Poney de Francais goal because I want to focus on improving the Arabians I have now first. I dont want to make a drastic change atm.

Added Goal(s)
1. 60+ Movement and 34+ strength
I have a couple horses who meet this goal but I want all of the herd to have this not just one or two. I have been focusing mainly on improving the movement but now that it is 58+ I can start focusing on strength a bit more. This is just a new requirement / standard. Horses that do not meet the standard will not be bred or will be given away. The only exception to this are horses who have 40+ in stats other than movement and strength and will be used as a "Stat Booster."

34+ Tempo and Balance
At the moment, them typical tempo and balance for my herd is 30. I may have gotten 34 once or twice but just like the movement and strength, I want it to be the standard for my herd not just one horse every once in a while.

Achieved Goals

60+ movement
Wasnt really a goal it kinda just happened, but it's still a great accomplishment.

I guess this would make about 2 months working on Mohawk Arabians. Jee time flies... Anyways, it has become common for my Arabians to have ≥60 movement and ≥30 strength which is pretty good. I've started getting 62 movement as well.

I have completed a side project which lowered my herds COI 80% - 90%. Due to the end of this schoolyear coming up, I have not been doing a lot of training so I plan on starting 2 other small projects with the Arabians that do not have a mohawk/ have already been bred. I do not want to stall on progress so I will focus mainly on breeding and lowering COI for a bit.

----------------(・☫・)---------------

Project 1: Paint Arabians

I am going to start working on paint Arabians. I want to breed paint grade horses by using Mustangs, Thoroughbreds, North African Barbs, and Paint horses. Once I have a decent amount of paint grade horses I will start turning them into purebred Arabians by using Arabians that don't have a mohawk. When I have paint purebred Arabians I will start working on breeding mohawks back into them.

----------------(・☫・)---------------

Project 2: Dappled Arabians

I am going to work on Arabians with colors like Andalusians and Mustangs ( Dappled Bay, Dappled Buckskin, Silver Dapple, etc. ). They are quite pretty and hopefully I will be able to make dappled paint mohawk Arabians by crossing Project 1 horses with Project 2 horses.

Breeding has been going a bit slow lately since I usually wait until the last minute to breed a foal. The unlimited turn "glitch" has been pathed so it takes longer but on the bright side the image rendering issue seems to have been fixed! Anyways, I have had 2 horses score higher than 51.11 and the new highest score is 51.53. I am hoping to breed a horse that scores a 52 soon. I believe I have a foal in training with the potential to get that but time will tell. Another plus is even if a horse I train is "bad" their scores are at least a 45

Added Goal(s)
52+ scoring Horse

Accomplishment(s)
51.53 scoring horse
More consistent 60+ movement and 30+ strength horses
Consistent 45+ scoring horses
Incline in green movement horses

Small update:
I have bred a 63 movement w/ a green movement comment and 31 strength horse. On top of that, the horse is a FILLY! I am not sure what type of scores she is going to get but hopefully they're at least a constant 46+.
https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3074911

Update:
She gets consistent 45s in local shows. I am not sure if she is worth competing but she is definitely worth breeding :D

Update II:
I decided to put her in some competitions and I am glad I did! She is the first filly to warn the Essence title with a score of 50.13 2x and 50.03
______________________________________________

5/22/21

I have made a lot of progress this month! Most of the Arabs I breed have a confo of at least 57 movement and 29 strength. They have good movement comments so it's only a matter of time before green movement comments appear more often. It is also becoming common for a horse to have balance in the 40s instead of the 30s. There are a lot more green/gold balance comments now so thats great! I see the COI is going up a bit in my herd so I will have to pay more attention to the pedigree but it shouldn't take too much time to lower it.

I have made some progress with my arabs that compete as well. I have finally bred and trained a horse that scored a 52+ in hunter. Shocking part is, whenever I get chestnuts they usually do bad in hunter but do pretty well in Endurance but he has done very well. On top of achieving that, almost all of the horses I have decided to train ( including mares ) that I have bred recently have scored at least a 50.

Horse: https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3086189

Added Goal(s):
52.5 scoring horse
64 movement horse

Accomplishment(s):
52+ scoring horse
2 50+ scoring mares
Increased balance
Common green balance comments
______________________________________________

5/28/21

I haven't really been working on the Arabians that much recently. I plan on training the remaining foals I have at some point, but I am not sure when that will be. I want to lower the COI of my herd again so I have been digging around for suitable mares/stallions. I have found a couple which should help.I am going to do this for 2 - 3 gens and then start using the mares/stallions I have now.

In terms of competing, most of the Arabians that I decided to train and compete have scored 50+. I am going to create another nickname for higher scoring horses. Ex: 50+ scoring Arabian = Essence Arabian 52+ scoring Arabian = ???.

Extra: I created another brand thing. The previous one started getting old. New brand: R⨳S

I haven't been as active as I used to be so not much has changed since the last update. I don't want to start breeding for competitive Arabians yet because I don't want to be confused on where I left off and what else I need to do, so I will wait until I am able to be more active.

Recently, I have started working on adding Tobiano to my herd. It is going pretty well. Slow, but well. I haven't been running into too many image rendering issues so that's a plus.

There is not a lot of tobiano visible but there is a pattern that seems to be the most common so far. I am hoping to get a markings of sorts on my herds face, neck, legs, and down to their bum. In other words, I want to avoid the typical stripe of white that goes from their neck to their 2 front legs.

There has been some more progress with the appearance of my Arabians. The tobiano has started to spread to more parts of my herd. They are close to being purebred now. Once they are, I will start working on breeding high movement, balance, and strength back into them.

I have started getting back into continuing my Hunter line. I haven't started breeding but I am training and testing foals that I meant to train before I took a break. Like I said before, 50+ scoring horses are common now in my herd. It has been a while since I have had a horse that didn't score a 50 at least one time. I haven't thought of a nickname for 52+ scoring horses yet but I am fine with just keeping the Essence one.

I'm not sure when I am going to start breeding competitively again but I will whenever I finish training the last of the foals I meant to train a while ago. It would save time if I was breeding while training but it would take a while for me to find the best mares for my stallions that are spread out on about 4 accounts. :?

Image
Image

07/08/21

I have started working on my herd more often and finally bred the first bunch of purebred paint Arabians. Their conformation and BR definitely needs some work but for now I am content. I have also kept the COI percentage to a minimum which I thought would be a problem. I suppose the 20+ horses I used to prevent that wasn't worth nothing.

I trained four foals recently and they did decent. Definitely not as good as where I left off before I took a break but I am also trying to lower the COI percentage with my Hunter Arabians, so that will come with temporary low scores. Two of the foals were fillies so it's not surprising that they didn't do the best but again, at least I know where I am at.

I am going to use some mares I bred a while ago with the most recent stallions and the newer mares with older stallions. Though the performance of these horses at the moment aren't the best, their confo and BR have improved a lot since my first 50 scoring Arabian.

This is a good time to add that I have achieved my goal of improving the balance, tempo, movement, and strength consistency of my herd. All of my Hunter Arabians that I have recently bred have 59+ movement, 30+ strength, 30+ balance, and 30+ tempo.
______________________________________________

07/11/21

Now pretty much all of the Paint Arabians I have are purebred. I have trained one of them for fun and they made a pretty good grinder. Right now, movement is in the 40s and strength in the 20s. I want to get the movement of my Paint Arabians to at least 50 and the strength to 25 before I start crossing them with my Hunter Arabians.

The purebred Paint Arabians don't have a temperament that's stuck at bombproof so I am going to try and preserve that. Maybe once my Paint and Hunter Arabians are just one herd that part will stay but if not that's ok. I definitely don't think I will go through the work of trying to reintroduce temperaments that aren't stuck at bombproof.

I have bred and trained another 51 scoring horse. It was definitely unexpected since the scores prior to that one were pretty low. I have been having trouble breeding colts recently, so I have been training a lot of mares. Pretty much every foal is a filly. I could really use a colt curse right now

I don't usually compete mares so I don't have much to say competition wise other than what I already have. I have noticed that the BR in my horses have been pretty average recently so I am going to work on that.

Image

______________________________________________

07/12/21

Small update: I am going to be starting a TB line alongside this. Progress will probably slow down a bit. It shouldn't affect the Hunter Arabians too much. The Paint Arabian project is complete now. I decided that instead of crossing them with my Hunter Arabians I am going to develop them as a separate herd for a Discipline. I will put more thought into it and see what they are already decent at. I am thinking about Endurance for them so I will see about that. There is going to be a pretty sharp decline in Paint Arabians so I can make room for the additional project. I am going to rehome the horses whos conformation/BR are lacking more than the others.

As for the Thoroughbreds, they will be developed for a racing discipline. I am thinking either racing or steeple chasing.
______________________________________________

Quick Update: I have done some research and decided to start a small project to get light - medium Arabians. Once they have a heavier build they will likely have higher strength, movement, and balance. That would be beneficial to my Hunter herd. I am not sure how that may affect how I feel about their appearance, but now that I am working towards breeding a Hunter RH I feel it is a necessary step to take.

Hopefully it won't take too long to get them back to purebred after crossing them a herd of Friesians, but if it does I am sure hope it will be worth it. I do wonder how much this will affect their performance very much. Time will tell I suppose :)
______________________________________________

07/21/21

I am starting to get some PB medium-light - medium Arabians. During the process of getting them the average movement, balance, and strength of my herd has gone up a lot. I don't dislike their appearance like I thought I would. I actually love it! They're the same, just a bit bigger. It seems that the height of my herd has gone down a bit as well. Usually the horses are around 20hh, now they're around 18hh. I don't think the height change will be a problem, just something I noticed.

I trained and champed a medium-light Arabian with a green movement comment not too long ago. I knew there would be a change in performance but I didn't think it would be such a drastic change!
Image
This is Eternal Roses. He has scored multiple 50+ scores. His top 3 scores are 52.8, 53.5, and 55.
https://www.horseworldonline.net/compet ... dition=151

It's great to know all the time I spent modifying my herd of Arabians wasn't for nothing! I am going to test a couple more modified Arabians to see what the average high scores for the herd is now. Maybe it will be at least 51 - 52 with a high score of 53+.

Hopefully the average will be high enough to start making goals for a Hunter RH soon.

Sheesh It's been 7 months since I have started this project already. Time really does fly. Anyways, breeding for this update has been going quite smooth. Almost every colt has green movement, all the horses have 59+ movement, most of them have 30+ strength, and a good chunk of my herd are purebred light - medium Arabians. Now that I have a lot more purebred Arabians, there are more foals that are worth testing.

Since I have been doing a lot more breeding than training, there isn't much to say competition wise.
I have tested 2 more horses since Eternal Roses and they have both scored 54 at least once so that's where I believe the average HS will be. Now, I can confirm that taking the time to modify my Arabians was definitely worth it! The average HS has gone up by 3 points.

I'm not expecting any record holders at the moment but hopefully I will have one by February 2022.

Here are some honorable mention(s):
Golden ᖇOᔕEᔕ

Golden Roses is one of Eternal Roses' offspring. He has a PHS high score of 54.67 and a LS high score of 54.76.

Serene ᖇOᔕEᔕ

Serene Roses has a high score of LS high score of 54.11 and a PHS high score of 54.21.

______________________________________________
8/23/21

Its been a bit since I have last updated. I have bred, trained, and champed a good amount of horses to know where I am at. I have also accumulated a good amount of knowledge that I will apply to the next couple of generations. With that being said, I will be starting a pretty strict project with my Arabians.

I have came to the conclusion that though my herd isn't "poorly" bred they are lacking in certain aspects. I decided to do some research by using guides made by players with high quality horses and apply what I have learned.

To start, I will be rehoming all my horses that don't have green movement with at least a light build. I reckon I will make a couple acceptations for that but not many. I have a lot of horses with fake high stats which is not doing my herd any good. I want to improve the BR of my horses as well as the heart. Moreover, I want the conformation to line up with the BR. I don't want 68 movement horses with an unhighlighted comment. I will start using the stallions I have tested that have gotten consistent high scores over 52. The rest will be sold as/used as grinders.

I have gotten another gold movement Arabian. My herd's conformation and BR comments are good enough to start seeing more of those or at least a lot more green movement horses.

There isn't really a worthy Hunter honorable mention so I will just throw in an old pain Arabian that looks amazing.

I decided to cross my herd with Friesians again for leg thickness and strength. Since I do a lot of things for free I don't really have a bunch to spend on studs but I'll manage. Since my Arabians are already quite similar to Friesians appearance-wise, they have been mixing a lot better than the first time. My Arabians stayed the same for the most part but the movement has gone up a bit.

I have started focusing on strength comments. Along with that my Arabians are starting to get strength confo scores in the 40s and high 30s. On top of that, the balance and tempo are starting to come back. I have started getting green and gold tempo and movement comments again.

Competition-wise I have definitely made progress. After breeding for a while with minimal testing there has been some improvement. I have only really tested one foal that I know for sure wasn't from previous success and he is my highest scoring hunter horse now.

Here is this update's honorable mention:
Midnight Roses is the first horse I trained after a while of breeding. He isn't a purebred Arabian but I decided to train and test him anyways. He scored 55.53 which broke my personal record for highest scoring horse which was 55. Many of the traits he has comes from the Friesian in him which is what I want my Arabians to have. Medium-light - Medium build, good strength comment, good movement comment, and a green balance comment. The only thing he is missing that I wish he had is a green/gold tempo comment. Other than that he is perfect! Hoping to maintain Friesian traits when I breed my horses back to purebred Arabians. ;)

I crossed my line with Friesians again to correct their build and get a boost in balance and tempo. So far, they're looking great! The movement it still decent + much better conformations. I am starting to train the foals from the crossing. I'm hoping they will score at least 54.5+.

I haven't tested many horses since the previous horses so there isn't much to say competition-wise. I do believe I was starting to get more high 54s/55 scores.

Honorable Mention:
Sunkissed ᖇOᔕEᔕ

Sunkissed Roses has a LS HS of 55.31 amd a PHS HS of 55.11
______________________________________________
10/12/21

I've made a lot of progress within the past 10 days. The crossing payed off and the build is perfect! Green and gold tempo/balance is a lot more common in my herd now. I rehome stallions that don't have at least green movement and green/gold tempo or balance. The only exception to that is if they have gold tempo and balance or a good strength comment and at least green tempo and movement. For mares, I rehome them if they don't at least have green movement or tempo or balance.

I have also accidentally bred high stamina into my line. Not sure how that happened but I'm not complaining! I have also bred feathers. A lot of my horses are coming out with mohawks and feathers. They look cute!

Competition wise, I hit a huge milestone! I bred and trained a horse that scored over 56! Now that I am starting to train horses after I crossed them and started seeing good stats again, I see they are now starting to score over 55.4.

Honorable Mention: Champagne Roses' current highest score is 56.56 which would break the Level 1, 2, 8, and 9 WR. Unfortunately he scored that in a Level 5 competition so he does not have a record holder title but he is still a record holder to me! Hopefully he will sire a RH or his foals will
