horses that meet requirements but aren't the right breed?(update)
I'm curious about this. I know I've had horses that are the correct cross and fit the needs of the breed I'm after when they're evaluated, but they cross just didn't appear. I know some luck is involved but if a horse is evaluated and it's in the proper ranges, yet still marked as red in those areas, what is going on?
for example I've been told my horse isn't the right height to fit the standards of the breed I'm after, but it's well within the ranges given in the breed book.
Update:
Okay, finally bred a foal that fits all of the breed requirements for Ardennais. However he's still listed as part belgianxforest horse.
I thought at one point it was explained that crosses and part bred horses could still produce purebreds when matched with the right breeding partner, but is that not the case? Maybe I misunderstood.

Re: horses that meet requirements but aren't the right breed?
If you have a horse like this post a link to him so I can have a closer look and see what going on.

At this point they've been released but I have one that's in the red on height, despite being in the range for Ardennais

red mary also seems to have the right build for Ardennais (which I know isn't vital for crosses but I still noticed) even though it's in the right range for the breed?

Am i missing a detail? It's very possible I'm reading something wrong.

What are the ranges for Ardennais? I don't think Larissa owns the book.

I can tell you right off that the chestnut filly is probably going to mature to be too tall. She's already 16.2, just barely in range. She'll probably hit 17hh by the time she stops growing.

Ardennais book:
Height: 14.2hh - 16.3hh
Body Size: 80-100%
Type: 70-90% Pony type
Height: 14.2hh - 16.3hh
Body Size: 80-100%
Type: 70-90% Pony type

Re: horses that meet requirements but aren't the right breed?
If she's red for height then she's going to mature over 16.3hh, the second one is not enough pony type by the looks

Okay. Good to know with the height. So mares don't stop growing until 4 years? I knew they couldn't breed until 4 but I didn't know they kept growing.
Body type wise I know about the pony thing, but build is Medium Heavy to Very Heavy, and she's medium heavy. So I don't understand why it's red.

Some horses can continue to grow until 5 years old too.

Some on the borderline go red even if is says the right build, usually one of the body size or type is out by too muchMoonRiver130 wrote:Body type wise I know about the pony thing, but build is Medium Heavy to Very Heavy, and she's medium heavy. So I don't understand why it's red.
