Training, Breeding, Showing Leases
A look at how leasing could reduce drama/thefts and improve player's gameplay experience through roleplay
most of us, at some point, have been the victim of horse theft simply through misunderstanding or dishonesty. By implementing leasing, admins would reduce this by 100%, as there'd be no reason to sell your horse, because leasing would guarantee the return of your horse.
As a senior player (4+ years of seniority), I am puzzled by why this continues to be an ongoing issue when there are many alternatives to selling your horse such as
- learning how to train and increasing your skills yourself, no doubt this would cut down on pesky scams.
- buying premium and double days to increase your turns for breeding, keeping both your mare and foal safely tucked into a barn or pasture that you own.
- taking time to enter competitions yourself, all the profit, all of the glory!
-treating others how you would want them to treat you, theft is wrong, scamming is wrong!
But, it seems, we still take risks. I believe leasing could open up a huge market for trainers, champing, and boarding!

Leasing Types
♡ Breeding
◇ Training
□ Boarding/General
Each lease is unique for each service. Breeding allows your horse to be bred, and turned until whatever age you set. Training allows your horse to be turned until whatever age you set. Boarding/General allows until whatever age you set. All leases have a default return date, which may be altered. For example, if your horse is never turned, and you're waiting for it to be trained, your horse is returned in 3 real days regardless. If you choose to cancel your lease, you receive no money back or no payment. Both the lease holder and the owner may cancel at any time, whoever cancels will no receive payment or be reimbursed.
You would still need to choose honest players, but this would guarantee that your horse is NEVER lost. Leasing is very much a part of the real horse world, I'd love for it to come to HWO.
Boarding center roleplay would be excellent for newer players to make some extra cash, or anyone, for that matter. You've got spare turns, spare room in your pastures or barns? Monetize it! Build a reputation as a good boarder, make your barns snazzy! Dress your boarded horses up in fancy tack, halters, blankets! Board a record holder, enter him in shows! Boarding leases could allow the lease holder to enter the horse in shows (an option offered to allow or deny by the owner), or simply age the horse until breeding age. Breeding is not permitted with this lease.
This is just the beginning of an idea that I'm sure has been shared before. Just refreshing due to the rise in crime

I agree, this would be quite a good addition to the game. I have also thought that the ability to gift horses to certain players would eliminate the accidental buying of transfer horses all together. There would be an option under the "sell horse" button to gift the horse, you would type the username of the player the horse is to go to into a field, and then that user would get a notification and be able to accept or decline the gift.Retsi wrote:A look at how leasing could reduce drama/thefts and improve player's gameplay experience through roleplaymost of us, at some point, have been the victim of horse theft simply through misunderstanding or dishonesty.
