Testing times - Testing the untrained or trained?
Testing times?
Needing some guidance about those.
First, Id like to start off by asking if anyone can share or spare some insight on what the "ideal" scores are for every discipline. Ive scooted around and took note of what some players have listed on their profile, are those trained or untrained times?
Like, as an example, should you have an untrained racer going under 1:58? or is that fully trained?
Insight on how to properly test? Wait until they're a certain age? Does weight and temperament affect it as well?
Anything you think a pal could know.
Thank you very much!

Re: Testing times - Testing the untrained or trained?
Overall, many of us use different styles of testing. The notes I have on my farm page is what the records are (somewhat currently, they're mostly up-to-date).Carbon wrote:Testing times?

Some of us test all their foals at a certain age but untested and in locals only. Some include certain temps and weights with that. Sometimes it's as a newborn, sometimes when mostly fully grown.
Local testing is usually done fully untrained. I don't take this route, I find my needs fulfilled through other means, but nominally because I'm a breeder and my goals are different from achieving those fastest times just yet.
My technique requires them to be fully trained and tested in player-made to check for heart. So I'll either train them myself or have another train them, set the temp and weight correctly, then test them in lvl 10 4x in those competitions I want. A result WPS of 75% or better gets a trial (another 16 entries in lvl 7 and up). After that, my testing and trialing is complete. I have my answers that I'm looking for and it guides me through my breeding process.
A time of under 1:58 would be a trained time, not an untrained. Most of the untrained 'good' times, if memory serves, should sit right about 2:15 to 2:20. But that doesn't mean a horse falling outside of that won't have good heart or good times; likewise a horse within those times when fully untrained, does not necessarily an excellent racer make. So there's a bit of give and take there.
For most of the competitions, 'competitive times' will be close to those record times.
For the racing styles:
Racing, competitive will be: 2:00 to 2:06
Sprint will be: .42 to .46
Steeple is generally competitive anything under 10:40
Harness is 2:35 to 2:45 (give or take)
The rest I am less familiar with, but I can give you a sampling if you want.
Anything faster than those competitive times is getting up there in the record holding areas.

Don't forget to check it out!

I know for really good untrained time of an adult is 2:14.50 minutes or fasterBlackOak2 wrote:Overall, many of us use different styles of testing. The notes I have on my farm page is what the records are (somewhat currently, they're mostly up-to-date).Carbon wrote:Testing times?
