What am I doing wrong?
How is it that another player has created a new breed by crossing a 2* mare and 0* stallion, but I can't do that with a 3* mare and a 3* star stallion?
I'm thinking I'm slowly going crazy because I can't create anything but grade horses, no actual new breeds.

Re: What am I doing wrong?
The stars are just a guideline, the numbers in the breed evaluation are what you should focus on. You can have a 0* horse that is only a few percentage away from being the perfect candidate for the breed you're creating.
I'll use body size as an example.
Scenario 1:
My goal body size is 55% to 75%
I have a stud that has 0* stars in body size at 50%
I have a broodmare with 0* stars in body size at 80%
It's a bit of luck, but in my experience unless one is carrying seriously dominant genes they could very well produce a horse in the 55-75% range.
Scenario 2:
My goal body size is 55%-75%
I have a stud with 1* star in body size at 75%
I have a mare with 1* star in body size at 75%
Though they both have stars in body size for the breed I'm trying to create, their offspring would probably have a larger body size making him too big to qualify for my breed.
Body type is a bit different, I find they tend to take after one parent or the other, rather than the average of the two.
I am quite weak in genetics, so this is only what I've learned from trial and error. I don't know the whys or hows, just that this works for me. ^_^

Thanks for replying!

Re: What am I doing wrong?
We can talk when you produce a 4* foal who is still not actually the breed you are trying to create.
Sigh.
Sigh.
