Went from champagne-ish color to gray?
I wish I took a photo when he was a yearling, but he went from this amber dun/champagne-ish color to this color:
The sire is amber dun and the dam is black. Thanks!

He's a black silver, well more specifically a smokey black silver by the look of the sire. Sire looks to be a double cream silver
