It looks like he is still getting his adult coat, and the transition between foal and adult coats can result in a funky looking horse for a couple months. The shadow you're most likely referring to looks like early onset sooty. That makes this guy a Sooty Palomino with two stockings (caused by the tobiano gene).

it just makes him a darkening palomino. he has some sooty/darker jeans so he will just darken with time but still stay palomino
