Tutorial, Foum Rules & Additional Forum
BlackOak2's reply with additional suggestions!
A few days ago I realized that almost every hour we have new players in our game but then j realized that only a handful of them (if not less) actually are active members. I tried to understand why this is happening and then I saw that every active player here is also an active member in our community (in the forums).
So maybe we should have an additional course at the end of our current tutorial where the course will guide the tutorial through the forums or it will just show them the "Gameplay questions & Help" forum.
I was one of the players who gave up on the game and just happened to come across it a few months, after I made a topic in general chit chat I got a but of help to understand this game a little bit more and then I loved it
___
Another reason as to why new players might be giving up on this game a bit too early is that the tutorial might be taking a bit too long (after 10 mins you run out of turns etc.) So I would suggest that until a player pops their first mare that the tutorial will gift them turns.
I understand that many players might rightfully believe that having a pregnant mare will make a player want to come and play this game again so this suggestion is not that helpful.
____
Another struggle that every new player goes through is coding. I would suggest that we add a new forum for test coding. Maybe the tutorial (at the end of our current one) could show a player how to code or just the basics like quoting and linking a horse (with our without a picture). The admins could create an account (whose name could be used for the quoting code).
____
Many players are not informed of the forum rules mainly because there is no easy access to them. Maybe the rules should be pinned at the top of general chit chat.
That is all!

If I remember correctly (but maybe I don't...) the tutorial does show you the forum. Though exactly which part, I'm not sure.Veterinarian wrote:...
Perhaps a step by step sort of expansion to that would be helpful, such as:
Go to: Community drop down.
Go to: Forum
Go to: Gameplay Questions & Help
Each with it's own banner, then as they go into the questions forum, the banner reads:
'Congratulations of entering the questions forum. All questions about the game should go here, click on the new topic button to create your own topic, and remember the first 5 posts must be approved by admin.'

The tutorial does gift them turns, but as I remember, I too, ran out of turns somewhere between having a mare pregnant and whichever... some purchase? maybe?
But after trying SO many new games throughout my internet game hunting decades (has it been more than one already?) I've found that all new games are similarly short when you just start out. In fact, some of those games make you wait for a new day before continuing to play is available.
So the wait on here really isn't all that different anywhere else.
But I also agree that the popping of the first mare is quite a nice accomplishment. Perhaps if a player does run out of turns before that, gifting until the first pop might be a better idea.
I don't know about this, I'm on the fence.

I could agree with a general walk-through of our horse-link coding and pinging might be helpful. I'm one that has gotten used to hovering and reading and general forum coding rules and usages. There are (arguably) a lot of people out there that can or already do have a handle on it without needing any help at all, but we also have a lot of younger folk that are signing up that the limit of their coding understanding is text-speak.
I'm not going to say anything more about that 'bucket of worms'.

Along with this, we should also have a copy pinned that either links back to, or is copied from the general rules we see just as we first sign up. There are times that I want to revisit them, but unless I go back to the sign-up sheet, I haven't found a better way to access the page.
...
Perhaps instead of pinning them to the top of the general chit chat, they get pinned to the top of the forum itself. Or a locked topic (no new topics can be added to the forum by non-admins), that's headed with: Game Rules.
I don't know about that though.
