Westernaires

Post by shadowheart2006 »

Hey, I am in a youth riding organization called the Westernaires. If you don't know what that is and want to know just ask ;). I have been in this organization for a while, and since this is kind of a horse person community I thought I would ask: is anyone else in Westernaires?

****Note: I know that there are people out there who are opposed to Westernaires and everything we do because they think that we abuse our horses. I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR YOUR CRITICISMS OF WESTERNAIRES! If you truly have a concern about the organization, please POLITELY tell me what it is and we will discuss it. *****

There’s always criticism about animal youth organizations. PETA once marched around our state fair yelling at us and carrying big signs about us “abusing” our show stock. Honestly, the show animals live a LOT better that other animals (for example, I usually hang out in my pigs barn because it’s air conditioning is better than my house  ). I also brush my pigs daily, give my goats treats, scratch my cows where they can’t reach, and shear my sheep so they won’t be hot. Sure, some you have to sell to be processed (I usually cry  ) but they all get to big to take good care of.

I know that there is always going to be criticism, and I don't mind it, I just don't really want to hear it because I've heard it already. Westernaires is basically where there are around 250 horses and ponies on property that riders can come and ride on a drill team.

Ooh sounds fun  I only have 1 horse, she’s an old quarter horse mare. I think she’s going on 23 now. I also usually donate my female animals to become breeding stock.

It is really cool, it is all volunteer so they don't need to pay employees, meaning that you can ride a horse for an hour for only $15. There are upwards of 3000 riders, and the older ones can help the younger ones. I haven't been able to go out and ride for the last couple of months because they were shut down, and I am REALLY excited because I finally get to go back an ride today! :D :D :D
