Why don't feed my horse?

Post by vihar20032003 »

I have a race horse that I am training but do not want to eat anything and are always skinny. What proportion should I give gim food?
He's in a barn.

Hello!

I should remind you that this forum is not for asking question but for commenting on features and making suggestions for new ones! It would of been better if you had posted this on the Gameplay Questions & Help ^^

Now to answer your question.

On the feeding section of your horse's page you will see the following:
- the Daily Energy your horse will receive per turn
- how much Protein, Fiber and sugar your horse gets
- how much his Regular Feed is (for example: 5.3kg to 10.5kg)
- how much his Max Feed is (for example:16.1kg)
-how much you will pay per turn
-how much your horse weighs

In order for a horse to gain weight its daily energy will need to be at at least 100%. If the horse has a daily energy that is higher than 100%, which can be achieved by adding another feed for your horse to eat, then the horse should gain weight quicker.
If you add more than that and the max feed turns red then lower the additional feed so that it won't pass the max feed limit. If it does max the max feed limit the horse will not gain weight but instead lose weight.

First things first. Keep in mind that your horse until he or she reaches the age of 6m old they will drink their mare's milk. This alone is not enough to feed the foal fully which means that the horse instead of gaining they will lose weight.

When a foal less than 6m old is kept in a barn it is hard to get the daily energy to 100% because the max feed limit they have is really low.

You will notice that even though there is a max feed limit you are still able to feed the horse more than the max feed limit says.

Yes, you can do that but I can guarantee you that the horse will not gain weight. In fact the horse will lose weight.

So the best option in order to get your horse's weight up (from Newborn to 6m old) is to leave them in a pasture. This way the foal will be able to gain weight and maintain its energy at 100% every turn.

Sometime during the age of 7m to 1y a horse that is kept in a barn at 100% feed will reach a point where the max feed turns red which means that the horse is fed more than it can consume. Unfortunately there is no way that you can avoid your horse losing weight at that age unless the horse is kept in a pasture with extra feed to help it maintain daily energy at 100% or up.

When the horse is 1y old and up, the max feed the horse can take will increase which means that you can chose if you want your horse to gain a lot of weight quickly or not. If you want your horse to quickly gain weight just put an extra feed, keep an eye on the max feed though! If it turns red lower the % of the extra feed so that it won't pass the max feed limit.

Would you mind linking the horse you have this problem with?
