Help with a horse
Hello everyone!
I usually try to guess what colours my horses have but I'm completely stumped with this little lady:

Does anyone know what this colour is? She's very unique looking!
Thanks!

Re: Help with a horse
She is Silver Smoky Blue Roan with appaloosa spotting and varnish as well as double tiger eye. (Black + 1xCream + Silver + Roan + 1xLp + 2xTE) If you look closely at her you can see faint dapples throughout her coat, indicating both the black base and the silver gene. The cream is indicated by her grayish (rather than reddish) color as a newborn - black-based foals with a cream gene will always appear kind of "washed out". Her tiger eye is also a giveaway for the cream - they are blue where they would be green if she didn't have the cream. The roan can be seen in how she appears to have white flecks distributed on her neck and body. Dun can be harder to tell on a roan, but I don't see any of the telltale signs of it - dorsal stripe, ankle spots - she looks like she has a bit of face mask, but I'm inclined to believe that is more from her roan than from dun. I also don't see dun on her parents, so unless I'm missing it on one of them there's nowhere for her to have gotten it from. And finally her Lp. We can tell she only has one because of the smooth edges of her blanket - a douple Lp would have lacey edges. She also has snowflakes coming on her butt and just in front of her flank. She also seems to have a bit of her dam's cloudy varnish coming in, though for the moment that could just be her roan.Jacket wrote:Hello everyone!

Thank you! That's so interesting! She definitely is one of my most interesting foals yet!
