A Question about my Racehorse

Post by LucentWings »

Hello, I have a question. This is the horse I consider to be my top racehorse:

SMGCh++◇Stormy Dream◇

He is my first and only racehorse to have reached this level of champing. Currently his win percentage is in the 94 range and he has had 172 1sts, 106 2nds, and 39 3rds at the time of writing this.

However, I noticed that many racers on this game have times less than 2 minutes, and I went through all of his 1sts and realized that he does not have a single time less than 2 minutes. I'm a little discouraged, so here is my question:

Does not having less-than-2-minute times make him a bad racing horse? Don't get me wrong, I'm very proud of him. I'm just wondering.

Having a racer that gets scores that are not below 2 minutes does not make them bad. It just means they probably won't break a record anytime soon. It depends who the horse races in that race to determine placement. So if someone entered a horse that got times less then 2 mins and you entered yours... yours most likely would come second every time.

If your wanting to breed a record breaking horse. You want to breed your top mares to your top sires. Now this is the case you train both and local comp them to see their fastest times. How most players do it.

Like what Horzelover101 said, it doesn't mean that the horse is a bad racer. If you are wanting to breed a record breaker, you usually want to breed horses with times under 2 minutes as the current records of racing are under 2 minutes. It does take a lot of time and patience to breed horses with times under 2 minutes but it is rewarding when you do manage to breed one

What PeacefulOreo and Horzelover101 both said is correct!

Just keep on mind that having a horse with faster times does not guarantee you success and first places, therefore a good win %

For example this previous world record holder had broken a world record in barrel Racing but if you actually look at his win % it is lower the 50.

So even if your horse competes in the same competition with a world record holder that manages to pull times that are below 2 minutes you still have a chance of winning. I have plenty of horses whose best times where above 2 minutes that have beaten a world record holder.

But also keep in mind that not all world record holders have bad win %. There is actually a gene associated with how often your horse will pull firsts, seconds etc. So if the world record holders you are competing against has stronger genes in tha area, which is the most common thing that world record holders in comparison with regular or good Racehorses are better at, your horse will probably get beaten by the world record holder.

But again remember, even if a world record holder does have stronger genes than your Racehorse there are plenty pf times where the horses have really bad times in comparison with their good ones.

I am not 100% sure about that but I have the theory that when you compete a horse in a competition with a really good Racehorse that has good times. Then there is a higher chance of your horse giving you a better time even if they get the second place. This is just a theory though. Plus I have seen many horses that compete with bad ones and not just stay around their times (since my theory is that horses tend to stay around the same time in a competition, so if a horse gets a result of under 2 min it will pressure your horse to get a lower time) but actually get a better time by far.

This is the best competition that will serve as a good example.

Your horse came second from one of D.M Boarding amazing racehorses that pulled a time of 02:00:61!
This is a time that your horse has never raced in. But that does not mean that your horse cannot win in a comp with a racehorse that competes in the time that D.M Boarding racehorse has! Take a look at the 3rd place! That is one of my stallions whose best time is 02:00:70 ! And your horse got a better place!

They pretty much covered it.

I have one thing to add for you to keep in mind.

In order to produce good stock, one must develop good stock to breed from. If you build from a better base, you'll eventually get better results.

Your horse may not (or not yet) be producing times under that two minute mark, but that doesn't mean if paired with the correct mare, that you won't get a foal (or multiple foals) that do race faster than him.

In my limited experience (because I'm a breeder and not a competitor), a horse with a stronger heart (that gene that can determine how many firsts and seconds a horse may earn), will generally produce better offspring then a horse with a weaker heart. Your horse does appear to have a strong heart, which tells me that he has a good, strong base, which also tells me that his offspring might be world-record competitors... though it still may take a generation or two to break one, that doesn't mean that even this horse can't.
It takes a few different variables for a record to be broken. Among them (beyond a horse that has the capacity to do so, i.e. your stallion) you will have to be aware of perfect weight (not just for the competition, but also for your horse), the perfect temperament (again for both competition and horse) and other competition horses. You will want to pit your stallion against horses that have fast times, but perhaps have a bit less heart than yours. These might give your stallion just enough edge to push him there. Or not. It's a shot in the dark sometimes.
